Destiny: Rise of Iron update increases max Light level

This week, Bungie promises to increase the max light level for player's gear, as well as address some bottlenecking issues with loot and rewards.

Destiny: Rise of Iron update increases max Light level
The most recent title (and expansion) developed by Bungie; Destiny: Rise of Iron, is getting an update that should address a pressing concern that has been voiced by the community time and time again, the max Light level cap.

Starting October 18, the max Light level will be 400. To go along with this increase, a lot of the rewards players find will have an increase in the average Light level they possess. The following changes in Light level will take place:

400 Light Rewards

  • Strike Hoards
  • Nightfall
  • Exotic Engrams
  • Trials of Osiris
  • Crucible
  • Iron Banner

385 Light Rewards

  • Archon's Forge
  • Heroic SIVA Strike Playlist
  • Legendary Engrams

365 Light Rewards

  • SIVA Strike Playlist
  • Rare Engrams

The recommended Light levels for these events have not changed, with Nightfall being the only exception at 380 recommended Light.

It should also be noted that the Heroic mode for Wrath of the Machine will be arriving next week, giving players time to prepare their Light levels accordingly.

Another important change to drops is the frequency (or rather, infrequency) of Ghost and Artifact drops. These items were dropping much less than intended, and have been added as Archon's Forge completion rewards to compensate. These rewards will drop at up to 400 Light.

For faction packages, the rate at which Ghosts are awarded has also been increased, and the rate of Artifacts dropped from Eris' Faction packages have been increased.
