The original Souls game is going to be getting the remake treatment according to a few reliable industry insiders. The only slight downside to this news is that the Demon’s Souls remake is rumored to be a timed PS5 exclusive. Sorry Xbox fans. The fact that it may be coming to Xbox consoles at all is news in itself, however, as the original only saw a release for the PlayStation 3. This remake is being helmed by Bluepoint Games, who’ve helmed previous titles such as the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall and the Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection.
Could this possibly be a way to brace the masses for more Demon’s Souls in the future? We know not to expect anymore Dark Souls for quite some time, per game director Hidetaka Miyazaki’s sentiments on the subject,
Dark Souls series is completely done as of Dark Souls 3: The Ringed City. At least, for now, we don’t have any future plans for it.
Remaking Demon’s Souls and making it multiplatform this time around is certainly the best way to bring it back into the public consciousness, but we will just have to wait and see what the long term plans end up being. Would you pick up a remake of this incredibly difficult RPG?
