During the opening press conference for Summer Game Fest, Hideo Kojima announced Death Stranding: Director’s Cut for PlayStation 5.
Kojima announced his 2019 title would receive a PS5 upgrade after an extended chat with host Geoff Keighley.
As expected from a Kojima Productions trailer, it gave us more questions than answers. After emptying the oranges inside, we see protagonist Sam Porter Bridges and his BB step inside a box, then quickly step out. Oranges confirmed in Death Stranding on PS5.
Death Stranding: Directors Cut is coming soon to PS5, with a full reveal “weeks away”.
Prior to the trailer, the legendary game creator talked about how the pandemic has affected how he will tell stories in his games. Kojima continued saying he went through a similar process after 9/11.
When released in 2019, Death Stranding had a varied reception from fans and critics. The PlayStation 4 version sits at an 82 on Metacritic, with a 7.3 average user score.
The game was the first project Kojima developed under the Kojima Productions banner after his split from Konami, following the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Reports earlier this year suggested that Kojima’s next title will be published by Xbox.
