The director of the movie Deadpool Tim Miller announced that he will be working on the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog CG/live-action hybrid movie.
Tim Miller, the Deadpool film director who left the production of the Deadpool sequel last month, is developing the planned hybrid CG/live-action film of the Sonic the Hedgehog games. Miller is serving as the executive producer, while Jeff Fowler, an animator and producer at Miller's Blur Studio, would make his feature directorial debut on the project. Patrick Casey and Josh Miller (Golan the Insatiable) are writing the script.
Sony Pictures and Marza Animation Planet, the wholly owned Sega Sammy Holdings subsidiary that made the Captain Harlock CG-animated film, are producing the project. Neal H. Moritz (the Fast and Furious films) is producing with Marza Animation Planet's Takeshi Ito and Mie Onishi. Toby Ascher is also serving as an executive producer, and Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons of DJ2 Entertainment are co-producers. Andrea Giannetti is overseeing the project for Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Although we now know who is working on the film we still know next to nothing about this film. There's no details about what's it about, the voice actors, or when it will be officially released. The only things we know about are the title, who's working on it, the release window, and that it's a CGI/live action film. I do hope that we receive more information soon.
Sonic The Hedgehog will be available in theaters in 2018.
