Electronic Arts have announced the return of Dead Space at EA Play Live 2021 with a remake of the original. The return of the classic horror thriller is developed by EA’s Motive studio, best known for Star Wars: Squadrons and the campaign mode for Battlefront 2.
The announcement of the return of Dead Space did not come with a release date, as expected with a CGI reveal. As the trailer panned out to black, confirmation that Dead Space will be a next-generation title only and will not be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One was provided.
Our studio is thrilled to be working on the remake of Dead Space, and deliver your worst nightmare. We can’t wait to show you more. #DeadSpace https://t.co/rDX8DhA7kx

Rumours had been circulating recently that Dead Space would return and be developed by Motive. As reported by VGC, Motive was working on an “established IP,” which many fans believed would be the return of the popular horror.
Dead Space was originally developed by Visceral Games (now shuttered), headed by veteran developers Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield. Releasing in 2008, it was followed by Dead Space 2 in 2011 and Dead Space 3 in 2013. The franchise was soon after left dormant, likely due to Dead Space 3 failing to meet EA’s financial expectations.
