THQ Nordic has announced Darksiders Genesis, a new entry in the post-apocalyptic franchise that started back in 2010. The game will put players in control of Strife, the pistol-wielding fourth horseman of the apocalypse. Unlike previous entries in the series, Genesis will be an isometric action RPG in the vein of Diablo. The reveal was pretty light on details, but the gameplay shown in the debut trailer looks quite a bit similar to Diablo III at first glance.
Darksiders Genesis will launch later this year on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia. The game is in development at Airship Syndicate, who last released Battle Chasers: Nightwar in 2017. Several developers at the studio previously worked at Vigil Games, the now-defunct studio that brought us Darksiders and Darksiders II.
We’ll likely learn more about the game during next week’s E3 Coliseum, which is produced by The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley. According to the E3 Coliseum website, a panel called “Darksiders: Action Adventure Evolved” will be held at 10:30am PST on Thursday, June 13 and will discuss “the inception of the Darksiders universe and where it’s headed next.”
