Controversy surrounds the insanely popular game Counter Strike: Global Offence once again, this time due to new rules made by Valve regarding the trade system. It seems players were outraged upon discovering that new rules were to be set in motion, stopping people from trading recently traded items for 1 week. The outcry was so large that 90.000 players signed a petition against the new rules. However this One Week Cool Off period is very important to Valve. The new rule was implemented to help combat automated Steam accounts (bots) from trading items through third-party services and thus profiting and/or ripping players off. In a recent blog post, Valve stated:
"Unfortunately, some of these third-party services have become a vector for fraud or scams. Unlike players, these services rely on the ability to trade each item very frequently. In contrast, a given item moves between actual players no more than once a week in the vast majority of cases."
Personally it seems clear that the One Week Cool-Off period was made with good intentions, only to protect the integrity and community of CS:GO. What do you think? Are people Over reacting? Or is Valve taking it too far?
