Crysis Remastered Announced for Modern Consoles and PC

The existence of Crysis Remastered was leaked by none other than Crytek themselves. According to a Crytek webpage which no longer exists, Crysis Remastered will release for all three major consoles and PC. This remaster will be the first release of the shooter on Nintendo hardware. It’s unclear if this was a full blown announcement, a calculated “leak” by Crytek PR, or just an accident. For those who didn’t get a chance to see the webpage while it was still up, the page lives on through Twitter.

Released in 2007, Crysis was one of the most graphically intensive PC games on the market, and it served as valuable benchmark test for how powerful PCs were at the time. At maximum graphics settings, Crysis was one of the most difficult games to run on PC. Crysis uses an updated version of the Cryengine, which was first made popular in Far Cry. Both Crysis and Far Cry were lauded at the time for their visually detailed jungles and large open terrains. Two sequels, Crysis 2 and Crysis 3, released in 2011 and 2013, respectively.

More specific information about the remaster should come along with an official announcement. The release date is also ambiguous, but that should also be cleared up by an official announcement. Whatever the case may be, it will be interesting to see what Crysis Remastered has to offer, and how much better the game can look.
