This June, we will be transported into Waking, a meditative adventure that encourages us to delve into our memories. We play as a character locked in a coma, battling to stay alive by using their memories as weapons. Demons lay in wait, and we must vanquish them in order to stay alive, but they aren’t the only ones we will have to fight: Somnus, the Emissary of Death, and the death councillors are all eager for us to give in to the endless sleep.
Locked in the darkness of a coma, you dream. In the recesses of your mind, voices call you home, beckoning you towards the light and the void beyond. But it is not your time.
Environment: The Mindscape is a dangerous place to be, and we must explore this strange world and fight the demons in our path in order to survive. The majority of the world is procedurally generated, allowing us to delve into every dynamic, bright environment anew with each place we visit.
Meditation: Waking is more than just a game, encouraging self-reflection both in-game and out of it. The ‘third person exploration melds with guided meditation techniques to create a new type of experience at the intersection of reflection, emotion and memory’.
Fight to Survive: Trapped between living and dying, we have a choice to make. Do we give up and let oblivion take us, or do we fight for our lives? Use your memories against your inner demons and the monsters trying to lull you into sleep.
Waking will be available on PC (Steam) and Xbox One on 18 June 2020.
