In an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter Paramount Films will be releasing a Rainbow Six movie. Chad Stahelski has been tapped to direct, while Michael B. Jordan will return as John Kelly. This movie will act as a follow-up to 2021’s Without Remorse.

It is worth noting that Jordan’s character goes by the name John Kelly. In the original Tom Clancy books, as well as the earlier games in the franchise, the character was named John Clark. The story retconned the name by having John Kelly being his birth name until he was forced to fake his own death and change his name. This should help for any research sought out about the character.

Chad Stahelski began his work in films as a stunt actor. After the tragic death of Brandon Lee, while filming the cult classic movie The Crow, Stahelski was a stand-in to complete filming. The use of special effects to make him look like Lee acted as a launching point for the use of CGI to swap actors’ faces and eventually alter their ages. After a career in stunt work, Stahelski moved into directing. Most notably, he has directed the John Wick trilogy and assisted in reshoots for Birds of Prey. He has also been announced to be helming Ghost of Tsushima for the big screen.

The Hollywood Reporter article notes that the Rainbow Six movie will be inspired by the book series as well as the game franchise. As of now, it appears that the movie aims to pick and choose from both somewhat parallel pieces of source material.
