Call of Duty: Vanguard remains the best-selling game in the UK for the past week, despite Sledgehammer Games’ title sales being 40% down compared to last year’s Black Ops Cold War, according to data provided by GamesIndustry.biz.
Further data seen by VGC shows Vanguard is the most disappointing launch week for a Call of Duty game since Call of Duty 4 in 2007. Activision is offering a free trial for its multiplayer this weekend. Free play days are not uncommon for the franchise, though usually do not occur this early on in a Call of Duty life cycle.
Vanguard sits ahead of FIFA 22 for a second week, according to data collected by Ukie. The spot had been held by EA’s juggernaut since its launch in early October. Meanwhile, new release Forza Horizon 5 from Xbox Games Studios enters the chart in 4th place. The open-world racing game from Playground Games is available on Xbox Game Pass. Players playing through that subscription service will not be part of this data.
Once again, Nintendo has a strong week in the UK charts. Animal Crossing: New Horizons jumps up to 3rd spot, from 7th last week. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains in the top 5, whilst Mario Party Superstars is demoted to the 7th best-selling boxed game of the week.
