Being an official ratings board, it seems a remaster is definitely a go, although at the time of writing, we’ve yet to see any confirmation from Call of Duty series publisher, Activision, or developer, Infinity Ward.
With there currently being nothing announced for this year’s string of annual releases for the series, and the last year’s Modern Warfare reboot releasing in August 2019, it’s easy to speculate that this seemingly confirmed Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 remaster could release in the second half of 2020.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 originally released in November 2009 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC to universal critical acclaim. Within 24 hours of release, the game sold 4.7 million copies across the United States and the UK. When becoming backwards compatible with Xbox One in 2018, love for the game clearly remained amongst the Call of Duty community, as it became the eighth-best selling game in the United States for that year.
Upon actual confirmation of this remaster from Activision, it will be interesting to see how they’ll name the title, if to avoid potential confusion with the new series reboot. Feeling the love? Check out our Top 10 Maps in Modern Warfare 2!
