A new teaser trailer has dropped confirming the existence of Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. This follows what has been a series of rumours, leaks and hints pointing towards the next game in Activision’s blockbuster first-person shooter franchise being set during the Cold War between the USA and the Soviet Union. The game is being developed by both Treyarch and Raven and will be the fifth game in the Black Ops sub-series and seventeenth Call of Duty overall.
The trailer is more of a tone piece than gameplay reveals, showing real-life clips from the Cold War conflict with a voice-over from KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov. He discusses Cold War tactics and claims to know about a Soviet spy who has infiltrated United States intelligence, Codename: Perseus. As one of the tensest and consequential arms races in human history, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War will have a lot of interesting material to work with both in its campaign and multiplayer.
Call of Duty: Warzone will also feature in this new game, as recently stated by Activision President Rob Kostich. No release date has been given, nor an exact confirmation of what systems it will be playable on. However, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War will be getting a full showcase on August 26, where we can expect to see more details on this year’s Call of Duty.
