Call of Duty 2020 May Not Be Black Ops 5 After All

Wanting Black Ops 5 for Call of Duty 2020? Well, you make not be in luck. The game may still be part of the Black Ops franchise though.

Call of Duty 2020 May Not Be Black Ops 5 After All…

Despite previous indications, it looks as though Call of Duty 2020 will not be called Black Ops. The game will be connected to the Black Ops universe however, according to reputable leaker TheGamingRevolution.

A new video was posted to his YouTube channel detailing the information that he had received from several of his sources. The game will likely feature Black Ops characters including Woods, but will not feature Black Ops in the actual title. Prior to this, the game was expected to either be called Black Ops 5 or even Black Ops. Many rumors suggested it could have followed last year’s Modern Warfare in rebooting the sub-series.

TheGamingRevolution suggested in his video that the game could be titled as simply as ‘Call of Duty Vietnam’, taking a similar lead to Call of Duty WW2, which released in 2017.

Back in May last year, Kotaku reported that the 2020 title was in upheaval. Original developers Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software were moved to the bench. Treyarch took the creative lead on the project as the studios clashed on multiple occasions.

As per Kotaku’s report, Sledgehammer and Raven were also working on a cold war/Vietnam game.

The 2020 title will launch later this year. The game is expected to appear on the next-generation of consoles: the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

New Call of Duty games are typically announced in May, so we can expect an announcement for a 2020 Call of Duty very soon.
