Call of Duty 2019 is officially announced as Modern Warfare

After tons of rumors and a lot of anticipation, Call of Duty 2019 has officially been announced as Modern Warfare. Looking to be a soft reboot to return the franchise back to a military narrative. The story seems to be restarting completely with the only familiar character at the moment being Captain Price. Soap doesn’t seem to be visible in the trailer but perhaps he will return once again as the playable character. It would be interesting if this plays out to be an alternate universe of what could have happened if certain events didn’t go through in the first Modern Warfare game. The multiplayer was not teased but with E3 coming very soon we can most likely expect to hear more information there. The game will be releasing on October 25th this year on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. No word on the Nintendo Switch at the moment. Check out the trailer below!

Official Reveal Trailer | Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

The trailer is all in-game footage which looks extremely good and slightly similar to 2016’s Modern Warfare Remastered. We’ll have to wait till E3 for actual gameplay footage in a campaign mission to see how the game runs on consoles. The original Modern Warfare launched in 2007 and while that title is being used once again, Infinity Ward seems to be very confident that this is the right decision compared to naming it Modern Warfare 4. Either way it’s going to be a very exciting year for Call of Duty fans.
