Since its release in 2012, Borderlands 2 has received a healthy amount of DLC for quite some time. From increased level caps to new story content, and new characters, you can’t blame Gearbox Software from not giving its fans and consumers plenty of reasons to keep playing its “Looter Shooter”. Now, over 4 years after Gearbox officially ended support for Borderlands 2, it seems like we may be getting more content for the game.

According to an anonymous source from Playstation Lifestyle, a new piece of DLC for Borderlands 2 will come to bridge the gaps between it and Borderlands 3. Titled “Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary”, the upcoming Borderlands 2 expansion will “allow players to get in one last hurrah, and sate the thirst for Borderlands that you might be feeling for the next few months.” The source also tells PS Lifestyle that the game will be released sometime during the week of E3. The current-gen version of Borderlands 2, found in the Handsome Jack Collection, will most likely take priority. It’s unknown if either the PSVR version of the game or the last gen console versions will be getting this content.

While it’s unknown what the DLC will be about, it can be speculated that it will focus on Borderlands’ Lilith and the possible early insight into the rise of the Children of the Vault, a faction led by the antagonists of the upcoming 4th installment.

Borderlands 3 is set to release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 13th, 2019.
