Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night released date announced

After months of waiting, Bloodstain: Ritual of the Sacrifice will finally be released next month on all major consoles.

In 2015, Koji Igarashi (Former producer for the Castlevania series) launched a Kickstarter for a spiritual successor to Castlevania called “Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.” The project received over $9.5 million from backers and was set for a 2017 release date. However, the game was delayed for what Igarashi promised was to “raise the quality level.” It was also announced that both the PS Vita and Wii U versions of the game were canceled. To quench players, Igarashi and his team at Inti Creates released Bloodstained: Cure of the Moon in 2018. The game was met with generally positive reviews.

After months of waiting, Inti Games put out a new trailer for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. The trailer showed commenters and fans not thrilled with the games art style. Igarashi then promising to “prove them wrong,” and showed off the game’s brand new graphics engine. Along with improved characters, enemies and background, the trailer also revealed that the game would release on June 18th, 2019.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night – Release Date Trailer | PS4

Set in 18th century England, Ritual of the Night will have players taking on the role of alchemist Miriam, as she fights against the evil summoner Gebel and his army of minions through a demon-infested castle, to save the world. It won’t be easy, as Miriam has been scarred with an alchemist curse that is slowly crystallizing her body and will have to fight through this castle to save herself.

Ritual of the Night is a 2.5D  Metroidvania title, with 3D graphics and backgrounds set in a 2D space. It will feature music by Castlevania: Symphony of the Night composer, Michiru Yamane, and Resident Evil’s Ippo Yamada. The game will also have that classic “Igavania” gameplay, with Igarashi’s biggest castle yet.

It’s been years since gamers got to sink their teeth in a new installment of the Castlevania series. The last major installment to the franchise was back in 2014 with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Since then, Konami has re-released past games in the franchise, and there has been the critically acclaimed animated series on Netflix. Hopefully, Bloodstained will be able to quench fans thirst for a new Castlevania game.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be released on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
