Dreamhaven is the new company started by Blizzard vets and former Blizzard president Mike Morhaime who will act as CEO and his wife Amy Morhaime as the head of operations.
The company will act as a publisher and parent to its newly opened development studios, Moonshot and Secret Door.
Members from some of the top games from Blizzard will be running these studios. Leading Moonshot is former executive producer Jason Chayes, Dustin Browder, who was the game director of Heroes of the Storm and Ben Thompson, who was the creative director of Hearthstone. Meanwhile, at Secret Door, the previous executive producer of Hearthstone Chris Sigaty and ex-game director of Hearthstone Eric Dodds. With Dodds and Sigaty, ex-technical director and game director Alan Dabiri will help lead the fresh face in the development side of the video game industry.
The former president stepped down in 2018 and officially left Blizzard in 2019. After some time off and consideration with his wife, it led to the creation of something new.

In an interview with GamesBeat, the CEO went into detail about the philosophical views of the new company.
“We’re almost trying to create a haven for creators who want an environment that is development friendly, values product, and player experience over short-term financial pressures,” Morhaime said. “We believe in the power of gaming to bring people together and as an escape of the unpleasant things that reality can bring. In that sense, it’s a haven as well. We like the imagery of a lighthouse as a beacon, and that inspires us because we hope that Dreamhaven can be a beacon of hope to others in the industry who share our values and philosophies. There is a better way of approaching business and game creation that can work and be sustainable and be a lot of fun and yield positive results.”
Both Moonshot and Secret Door have full control over creative visions. Dreamhaven acts purely as a publisher and support system regarding finances and guidance for the two development studios.
