Blizzard Reveals Overwatch Drop Rates
Blizzard Entertainment has officially revealed the drop rates and loot box probabilities for Overwatch recently in accordance to the Chinese government's ruling on online loot box based games.

Every loot box awarded to a player contains at least one blue (or rare) item. Additionally, the average drop rate for purple (or epic) items is one item per 5.5 loot boxes. Similarly, the drop rate for orange (or legendary) items is one drop every 13.5 loot boxes.

Though it's unknown whether or not these rates apply to copies of the game in other regions, it would be surprising if that was not the case.

The reason for the imposition of this legislation by the Chinese government is so that gamers know exactly what they're paying for. Blizzard is the first company to comply with the law, so it would be interesting when or if other publishers will follow suit.

I am totally for openly-public drop rates for every game that has them, even single-player games. Because when I am going for a rare item in a game, I’d like to know what my chances are before I blow hours trying to get a 1% chance item, which if I had known its drop rate ahead of time, would have definitely skipped it or planned a different style/build for gameplay.

To be fair DE doesn’t require a PAID key to get the items I can totaly understand this, Gambling real money to get items should always tell you the chances.

I don’t play, so I can’t comment. However, this sounds mildly fairer than Digital Extreme’s BS 0.001% drop rates for certain things…
