In an interview with Polygon, Mark Darrah, the executive producer Anthem and the Dragon Age series, says that Bioware is "definitely not done with Mass Effect." There’s a lot of stories to be told," Darrah told the website. "We could pull on the threads we put down with Andromeda; we could pull on threads from Mass Effect 3. There’s a lot of interesting space to be explored."
Casey Hudson, the executive producer of the Mass Effect trilogy, added "I’m thinking all the time about things that I think will be great. It’s just a matter of getting back to it as soon as we can.”
When Mass Effect Andromeda was released back in 2017, it was met with lukewarm reviews by critics and panned by fans of the series. Both were highly critical of the game's facial animations for its human models, weak supporting cast, and questionable writing.
After the disappointing response, sources from Kotaku reported that Bioware Montreal, the studio behind Mass Effect Andromeda, was being downsized and that the franchise would be put on ice for the time being.
Bioware's latest game, Anthem, is set to release on February 22nd.
