The recently revealed Beyond Good and Evil 2 will be running on a custom engine that allows players access to planetary exploration with detailed cities and hubs, Ubisoft's Michel Ancel disclosed today via a Twitch interview. He equated it to something along the lines of "Grand Theft Auto in space."
Having had worked on the engine for 3 years, the team responsible for making the game wanted to develop something that would allow them to fully realize the game they wanted. As a result, the title will be the biggest game the development team has ever made.
Additionally, Ancel revealed that Beyond Good and Evil 2 would be centered around "two important aspects", the first of which being single player mode, the second being online. Players could call on friends for co-op in a similar manner to how companions were used in the original game.
Though no release date has been announced, the title's official website does list it as coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
