Bethesda says we won’t be getting Elder Scrolls VI details for Years

Wondering when the Elder Scrolls VI release date is going to be? Wondering what the game is going to be about? Well even though the game was announced at E3 2018, we've been given no new details since, and according to Bethesda, it's going to stay that way for a while.

Bethesda says we won't be getting Elder Scrolls VI details for YearsDespite the partly-disappointing realisation that Elder Scrolls VI would be on the back burner until their upcoming sci-fi RPG, Starfield, is completed, it was still exciting to know that a sequel to Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was on the way. It’s been two years since we were given the vague, short annoucement trailer that was basically just a fly-over of a mountain with series-generic orchestral music, so we thought we’d get some more information on what to expect by now.

The Elder Scrolls VI – Official Announcement Teaser

A discussion over Twitter with Pete Hines, SVP of marketing and communications at Bethesda, says differently.

After being asked as to when we can expect some further details, Hines replied:

It’s after Starfield, which you pretty much know nothing about. So if you’re coming at me for details now and not years from now, I’m failing to properly manage your expectations.
Last we heard, Starfield was due for release this year at the earliest on Xbox Series X and PS5. However, that was before the Coronavirus pandemic swept the world and development in the gaming industry along with it. We’ve had no updated release schedule on Starfield so far, but it’s highly likely that its release date will be pushed further back, meaning development on Elder Scrolls VI taking even longer.
