Bethesda Confirms Fallout 76 Not Going Free-To-Play

A rocky start for the latest installment in the Fallout franchise isn't enough for Bethesda to change the current payment model. At least, not yet. Fallout 76 needs a little more time and care before any drastic changes need to be made, such as giving the game away for free.

Bethesda Confirms Fallout 76 Not Going Free-To-Play
Earlier this week plenty of social media accounts brought to light that many gaming stores, including Australia region EB Games, were losing stock of all new copies of Bethesda's online shooter, Fallout 76. The rumors began swirling about the publisher possibly gearing up to switch the current payment standard to a more appealing free-to-play model in hopes of attracting more players.

In a response posted from Bethesda's Twitter account, we can officially confirm that those who have spent their hard-earned money on Fallout 76 will not suffer a brutal "slap in the face", as one user expressed. Fallout 76 will remain — for now — on sale from all retailers who have been stocking the multiplayer post-apocalyptic title.

Fallout 76 has suffered since its launch this past November with incredibly low review scores damaging any ounce of positive reputation the game may have had before launch. Unstable servers, game breaking bugs and an overall boring or lacking experience has hindered the game from garnering any amount of substantial praise. Since launch day, Fallout 76 has seen a flurry of sales, dropping the price all the way down to 50% off. And the game has only just reached its two month anniversary.

Fallout 76 is available to purchase on the PS4, Xbox One and PC via Bethesda.net. The game is currently sitting at an unimpressive score of 53 for PS4, 52 for PC and 49 for Xbox One on the aggregator review site, Metacritic.

Oh what could have been. So much potential. The game just feels like it is missing some key components. Hoping they add the missing pieces ( NPS’s, Quests, Larger Player-Hubs, More End Game Purpose ).
