Bethesda has decided to celebrate the launch of Metroid Dread with an unexpected piece of art. They tweeted the art while congratulating Nintendo on the launch of Samus’ latest adventure. The image is essentially a very cool DOOM version of the Metroid Dread box art. Of course, the Doom Slayer is front and center rather than Samus, ready to take down all foes in his path!

As you can see, it is a very faithful recreation of Metroid Dread‘s tense box art. The imposing E.M.M.I. looking down on Samus in the background are replaced with various demons. This piece is a very faithful re-imagining of the original box art but in the DOOM universe.

While Bethesda’s Metroid Dread art is pretty cool, it isn’t the only thing the Doom Slayer has to be celebrating. You may also be aware that he and Samus will actually be in the same game very soon. Doom Guy is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a mii fighter costume on October 18th. This is alongside the launch of the game’s final DLC fighter, Sora, of Kingdom Hearts fame. The Doom Slayer is one of three new mii fighter costumes in the next batch. He joins the game along with two new Splatoon costumes (Octoling Wig and Judd Hat).
