Brand new Assassin’s Creed AND Splinter Cell VR games are expected to be announced during today’s Facebook Connect event. According to Vandal, the Facebook Connect event, showing off all-manner of things to do with Virtual Reality, will exclusively reveal new entries in two of Ubisoft’s most storied franchises. This would be the first official Splinter Cell game since 2013’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Whereas Ubisoft are already promoting Assassin’s Creed with the upcoming release of its Viking-inspired, AAA release – Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla

A Splinter Cell VR title isn’t exactly what fans have been clamoring for and, similar to Half-Life: Alyx, fans may not react kindly to having their legendary hero, Sam Fisher, return in this kind of capacity. It was only last August when Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot spoke to GamerSky and said:

“On Splinter Cell there will be some new type of experiments, but more on different devices. We are working a lot on the brand today to come back at one point. We can’t say when because as you know it takes time, but we have to find which time is right to come back big.”

Sam Fisher’s most recent outing has been as a playable operator in the new Operation Shadow Legacy update for Ubisoft’s massively-popular shooter – Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. If Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell VR are announced, expect some interesting reactions to follow.

The Facebook Connect event is expected to commence at 6pm UK Time.
