Sony has revealed the free games available for PlayStation Plus subscribers for April 2021. Oddworld: Soulstorm headlines for PS5 available the same day that the game comes out. Users can also get Days Gone and Zombie Army 4: Dead War on PS4 and PS5 through backward compatibility. They will be available to download from Tuesday, April 6th, until May 3rd.
Oddworld: Soulstorm (PS5)
This new entry in the Oddworld series is set to bring Abe into the next generation. Featuring “a big visual and cinematic leap” from previous titles and a new story based on the original Abe’s Odysee. Players must explore the unique 2.9D environments and attempt to save Abe’s fellow Mudokons.
As revealed in last month’s State of Play, the game will be available on PS Plus on launch day. The game should take full advantage of the PS5’s new features, including haptic feedback (to feel Abe’s heartbeat), adaptive triggers and 3D audio.
Note that although Soulstorm is releasing on PS4 as well, only the PS5 version is included with PS Plus. Also, the game isn’t on offer for the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and South Korea territories.
Days Gone (PS4)
The next title available is the zombie (Freaker) horde-fest Days Gone. Play as Deacon St. John, armed with a variety of weapons and his trusty bike, as he searches for his lost wife while surviving in the apocalyptic Pacific North-West landscape.
Days Gone recently received a small update for PlayStation 5, which boosted the framerate to a solid 60fps. On PS5, it has already been available for free as part of the PlayStation Plus Collection, however now PS4 users can get the game if they are yet to upgrade to next-gen.
Zombie Army 4: Dead War (PS4)
Finally, PS4 players can get the latest title in the zombified spin-off series of the Sniper Elite games. Featuring “occult enemies, epic weapons and a harrowing new campaign for 1-4 players”. So if slaying Nazi zombies is your thing, be sure to try out this game when it becomes free in April.
There are also nine free games available now for all PlayStation owners; thanks to Play At Home and Horizon Zero Dawn will be free from April 19th. So combined with the April 2021 PlayStation Plus games, there are loads of great freebies for PlayStation gamers.
