It's been two years since any new expansions have been released for Cities: Skylines, and a new one has just been announced. The new Airports DLC will be released on January 25, 2022. As the title suggests, you will be able to build your own airports in your cities.

Airports DLC Coming to Cities Skylines Cover

Since its release in 2015, the city-building game Cities: Skylines has had several expansion packs. The last to be released was Sunset Harbor in March 2020, which added a new fishing industry and new modes of transport. No new expansion packs have come out since then, until now. The new DLC, simply called Airports, has just been announced. The expansion was revealed by publisher Paradox Interactive. While airports are already present in the game, their system is less expansive and have to be unlocked. The add-on will allow you to build your own custom-made airports in your cities. Airports can be built in all sizes, from small airfields to large international sites.

With Airports, you get a lot of control with how you can customize your airports. The various buildings you place can be connected using concourse networks. You can unlock more building options and bigger planes if you satisfy business travelers and tourists. By using base game transport such as buses and trains, you can link them up to your airports to make travelling easier for those flying. You can also link up your cargo train terminals to your airports, merging them together to bring in new goods and materials. All these features will help boost the travel industry, as well as providing other benefits to your city. You get further management control by setting ticket prices and managing gates. You can even get creative by designing your own logo for the airport.

The Airports expansion pack has a release date of January 25, 2022. It will be made available on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, and PS4/5 for your regional pricing.
