A Saints Row: The Third remaster is on its way to PS4, Xbox One and PC, according to the ESRB.
The Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) responsible for rating the maturity level of video games, has listed the Saints Row: The Third Remaster on behalf of the publisher, Koch Media. A Nintendo Switch port, subtitled “The Full Package”, released last year to lukewarm reviews. The console struggled to run the game, with frame-rate issues and unresponsive controls aplenty, according to Digital foundry. No release date was given, but it’s likely sometime soon. Receiving an ESRB rating tends to happen near the end of development.
Saints Row: The Third Is The Franchise’s Best
In my opinion, Saints Row: The Third represents the pinnacle of the franchise. It was suitably more bonkers than its predecessors, ridding itself of the “GTA clone” moniker, but wasn’t as ridiculous as Saints Row IV, or the disappointing Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell. A spin-off set within the same universe called Agents of Mayhem released in 2017 but lacked any of the charms of the Saints Row series.
A fifth game isn’t official, but the chances of seeing a revival are good. THQ Nordic has claimed they have over 80 games in active development, including a Destroy All Humans remake, so a sequel or reboot seems relatively inevitable. We need escapism now more than in recent memory. Hopefully, we won’t have too long to wait until we can beat up enemies with massive sex-toy bats once again.
Saints Row: The Third is currently available on Nintendo Switch.
