December 25th is getting closer and closer and many parents may be looking to buy their children a video game or two for Christmas. This article will provide a list of family friendly games released in 2016 that your children should enjoy playing.
1) Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is a third person shooter developer by PopCap games. I recommend this title because it allows children to experience an AAA quality shooter game without all the gore and violence featured in most mainstream third person shooter games.
In the game, you play as a member of either the plants team or the zombies team as you fight over a variety of maps and game-modes. You can pick different classes to fight as with their own unique abilities to help your team to dominate the battlefield. The game also features local split screen co-op so you can play with your child.
2) Minecraft: Story Mode
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, WiiU, PC, PS3, Xbox 360
Minecraft: Story Mode is a point and click adventure game developer by Telltale Games. The game is based on the popular sandbox game, Minecraft.
In this game you play as Jesse (who can either be male or female) as you and a group of adventurers go on an adventure to save the world. A lot of the game plays like a tv series where the player can make choices that affect the story and the relationships the player has with the other characters.
I recommend this game as it is based on a popular children's game and it will allow your child to carve their own story determined by the choices they make in the game.
3) Fifa 17

Fifa 17 is a football game where you take control of players on a pitch as you aim to win the game by scoring more goals than the opponent. The game features many gamemodes including Career Mode, Ultimate Team and The Journey.
I recommend buying this game if your daughter or son is at least a small bit interested in football as it will allow them to fulfil there football fantasies inside of a video game. Your daughter likes Lionel Messi? Well in this game she can play as Messi. Your son likes Jamie Vardy? Well in this game he can pl4.) ay as Vardy.
4) Ratchet and Clank
Platforms: PS4
Ratchet and Clank is a three dimensional platform shooter video game developer by Insomniac games. This game follows the story of Ratchet and his robot companion Clank. In the game, you will have to navigate around a variety of different environments while defeating enemies and solving puzzles. You will equip a vast array of weapons to aid you on your journey.
I recommend this game as it is a fun game where the player can destroy enemies in a number of creative ways while following a humorous story with laughs along the way.
5) Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, WiiU, PC, PS3, Xbox 360, 3DS, PS Vita
Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a destructible Lego game set in the Star Wars universe. What else do I need to say?
In this game, you will follow the story of the film The Force Awakens written in a new and humorous approach. You can unlock all the characters that feature in the film, many of them with unique abilities and switch between them to complete levels. The game is designed in Lego and so a lot of the environment is destructible, leading to family fun.
I would recommend to buy this game for kids who like Star Wars and Lego as the game accomplishes its goal of matching the two together. The game also features split screen co-op so you can play beside your child, helping them to solve the puzzles and defeat the enemies.
6) Pokemon: Sun and Moon
Platforms: 3DS
Pokemon: Sun and Moon are role playing video games developer by Game Freak and set in the Pokemon universe. In the game, you take control of a Pokemon trainer who gets brought into an adventure. The job of a Pokemon trainer is to catch Pokemon (animal like creatures with special powers) and use them to fight other Pokemon and trainers.
I can remember playing Pokemon games when I was younger and I loved them. I would recommend them as they are fun games with lots to do and numerous unique Pokemon to catch. Your child should enjoy exploring the world, meeting new characters and catching Pokemon.
I hope that this article helps you to decide what Video Game(s) to buy your children this Christmas.
