Blackfire Games just launched a Kickstarter campaign for a title named Unformed in order to bring us a 2D Metroidvania game set in ancient China and inspired by H.P. Lovecraft tales. It appears to also have a very strong Dark Souls influence. The developers are currently just asking for a funding goal of $20,000 to be met in a 30 day time frame. Their plan is to bring the game first to PC and then to consoles about a year later. Check the trailer just below for a glimpse on this new and interesting project.
In Unformed you control a warrior who apparently seems to be cursed with immortality. The game will feature dynamically changing levels of quite a large amount of variety of settings which include areas such as underground mines and mountain salt lakes. The combat is confessed to be heavily inspired by the Souls series with enemies attacking in unpredictable ways. For those familiar with those type of games, you can assured that this promises each battle to keep you on your toes at all times. Stamina and aggressive fighting styles are crucial for combat here as well. The game also will feature about 8-10 secondary story arcs outside of the main quest. Finally, at the heart of leveling up seems to be a set of raw stones that the player can find around the world or by completing quests.
