100 GB File Size For Forza Motorsport 7

Microsoft's impressive incoming 4K racer Forza Motorsport 7 may cost gamer's hard drives dearly. The game's release file size will be a gigantic 100 GB.

100 GB File Size For Forza Motorsport 7
Microsoft recently unleashed at E3 2017 its new Xbox One X along with impressive looking 4K racer Forza Motorsport 7. It is the first game from the giant racing franchise to have been built from the ground up for 4K visuals and textures. Forza Motorsport 7 is set to run at a native 4K on the Xbox One X along with presumably locked 60 fps. The impressive news just recently got shot down a bit when we learned of, what may be for many, an unexpected cost of having 4K gaming. The new racer will require a staggering gigantic file size of 100 GB. While it may be true that other notable games on Xbox such as Halo 5 and Gears 4 have already reached around or surpassed 100 GB with all subsequent updates and DLC, for a new blockbuster game such as Forza to start at 100 GB is very scary. How much hard drive space will this sole game require once updates and DLC are also factored in? Time will tell but 4K is already showing a considerable inconvenience.

They should add the option to download the game with 1080p assets instead of 4K to decrease file size.

And this is why moving too fast into native 4K may not be such a good idea.

Downloading the game will take forever too, for those going that route.

It’s mind-blowing that knowing this, Microsoft didn’t make the Xbox One with several terabytes of hard drive. If game’s file sizes increase this much from one generation to the next. Then, we clearly need base hard drives to increase in size accordingly as well.
