In the massive open world of Red Dead Redemption 2, there are several chance encounters scattered across the map waiting for the player to stumble upon them. One of the more prominent of these encounters is the serial killer murder scenes. In these encounters, the player will stumble upon a gruesome display of carnage. Each of these horrific scenes contain clues to the identity of the perpetrator of these acts.
If you desire to bring the killer to justice, you will need to visit all three murder scenes to find all three killer clues. In this guide, we will go over and list all of the locations you need to visit to find the killer clues in Red Dead Redemption 2. (Warning: a lot of images of gore are below this point).

South Valentine Killer Clue Location

The first killer clue can be found outside Valentine towards the south, in between Citadel Rock and Caster Ridge; see the image above for the exact location. When riding north towards Valentine, you will probably notice some ravens gathering around a railroad bridge on the right. This also applies if you happen to be riding south from Valentine, but in that case, it will be on the left.

Underneath the bridge and attached to one of the railroad support beams, will be a severed head with a map sticking out of its mouth. Walk over and press “E” on the map to take it. This map is one of the clues to the whereabouts of the killer, and you will need all three to reveal their location.
This is where you will find the first clue underneath the bridge on the support beam.
South of Wallace Station Killer Clue Location

To find the second killer clue, we will have to go to the road that cuts through the railroad going south of Wallace station, and north of Diablo Ridge, as shown in the image above. When arriving, we will soon notice a pool of blood with a severed foot that is located off to the side of the road. It is at this point where we will want to use our Dead Eye ability to follow the tracks away from the road.

After following the tracks, you should later see a severed head sitting on a rock to the left, and a hanging mutilated corpse on a rock, with the words “Look upon my works” written next to it. Next, you are going to want to grab the second map, and with that, we will move on to the final piece to the puzzle.
On the rock left of Arthur is where the second clue will be located.
East of Braithwaite Manor Killer Clue Location

For the final clue, you will need to bring the perpetrator of these horrendous acts of cruelty to justice, who is located south of Rhodes. Even if you haven’t visited this location yet in the game, you can still go there by horse, train, and of course, on foot.
This is where exactly the clue is as shown by the In-game map.
When arriving in Rhodes, you’re going to want to go south towards Braithwaite Manor, and then head east towards the road that goes south next to Bolger Glade. When you reach the road, continue until you reach the location as shown above. The location you want to be at is the “S” at the end of the word “meadows” on the map.

At this location, you should notice a pool of blood off to the side of the road that bears stark similarity to the previous locations we have visited. At this point, you are going to want to head up the hill, to a big tree on top of it.
When you see this, you need to go left around the tree to find the last clue.
Upon reaching the top of the hill, the first thing you will notice is a mangled corpse, similar to that of the other locations. After witnessing this display, head left around the tree, and you will find a severed head with a map sticking out of it. After taking the map you will now have all the pieces, and thus a full map that will lead you to a location called Lucky’s Cabin, southwest of Valentine.
This is where the last clue is around the tree.
What to do After Finding All Killer Clues
This is where the stranger encounter will pop up on the in-game map.
It is at this point where I am going to warn you of spoilers. Before going into the events that will follow after going to Lucky Cabin, I highly suggest going to the Lucky Cabin location right after following the steps above, so that the experience is not ruined for you. However, if you choose to proceed, this is what happens, and what you will need to do.
This is where the serial killer’s lair is, also be sure to note the large hatch that leads to a basement.
When heading west of Valentine, continue on the road until a stranger mission circle appears on the map. After this happens, head north off a dirt road, to what appears to be a small structure south of the letter “A” in “Valentine” on the map.

After going up the road, you will notice what appears to be the remains of a burned-out house, with a very noticeable hatch to a basement. At this point, you are going to want to walk over and press “E” on the hatch but before you do, make sure to equip the lantern from the weapons slot tab, as it is really dark down there. After equipping the lantern, proceed down the steps into the lair of the killer.
On the table to the right of Arthur is where the letter will be.
One of the first things you should note is a letter on a table in the far right corner of the room. The letter itself is nothing important, but is nice nevertheless, as it shines light onto the identity of the killer. After you read the contents, proceed around the corner.
When you see this, walk over and grab the knife out of the corpse to the right of Arthur.
Next, you will bear witness to several gruesome displays of gore scattered about this section of the basement. However, one in particular you should note is the mangled torso to the right in the image below. You’re going to want to walk over and grab the knife sticking out of the chest. After doing this, you will then be jumped by the killer, then a small cutscene will play.
That’s what you get for hitting me, you creepy little goblin.
During this scene, the killer will recite some typical serial killer mumbo jumbo. While this is going on, you will have the chance to subdue him. An option to whip a severed head at him will soon pop up. When this does pop up, you will have a brief moment to punch and hogtie him. It is now at this point where I must congratulate you, for you have just captured the killer.
This is where you will need to take the killer to in Valentine.
However, the adventure is not yet over. Now, you must take Mr. Killer to Valentine’s jail. After arriving, take him off your horse, then walk into the sheriff’s office and present your work to the sheriff.
Hey sir, look what I found!
When you walk into the jailhouse, the sheriff will tell you to place him down next to his desk. Proceed to do this but be prepared to kill the serial killer, as he is going to try to kill the sheriff. After the deed is done, the sheriff will then thank you for saving him, and award you 20 dollars for your troubles.
Well, I told you he was crazy!
When you receive your 20 dollars, that will be the end to this side mission, thus everything there is to know about it. We hope this information helped you out when completing this side mission.
