Vykas Phase 2 Complete Guide in Lost Ark

Vykas Phase 2 picks up where Phase 1 left off and this complete guide will help you clear Lost Ark's most challenging content. In Phase 2, players face Legion Commander Vykas herself with difficulty similar to Phase 1. Get ready because this fun and challenging raid will be a blast!

Vykas Phase 2 Complete Guide in Lost Ark

In Lost Ark’s Vykas Phase 2, players face Legion Commander Vykas herself, and this complete guide will provide you with the tools and tactics necessary to defeat her. Phase 2 includes only 2 major wipe mechanics, which makes it sound easier compared to Phase 1.

However, there are also various normal attack patterns that are extremely dangerous and occur at random times. Therefore, while the wipe mechanics appear manageable, players can easily die before or after those due to the chip damage from other attacks.

Preparation

Before starting the fight, players should make sure to come prepared with the right equipment, items, cards, and set up positions for upcoming mechanics. As for equipment, similar to Phase 1, Vykas requires an ilvl of 1430 for Normal Mode and 1460 for Hard Mode.

Sidereals

Sidereals are the same as in Phase 1. The most commonly used in Phase 2 will be Nineveh for DPS and occasionally Wei if players need to break the boss’ stagger bar.

Items

  1. HP Potion
  2. Panacea/Splendid Panacea (Splendid Panacea is for orb mechanic at 65 HP)
  3. Time Stop Potion (to avoid certain mechanics)
  4. Dark/Flame Grenade (for pushing DPS)

Cards

Vykas Phase 2 is the first Legion Raid boss in Lost Ark that is weak to Light damage. Therefore, Light of Salvation (at least awakening 12) is extremely beneficial in this fight. The second best option would be the standard Lostwind Cliff (awakening 12, for extra crit rate), or the Field Boss set for extra HP.

Positions

Players will need to set 2 different positions in the preparation phase, one for each wipe mechanic.

Positions 1 (120 HP)

For the first wipe mechanic that occurs at 120 HP, players will need to position themselves appropriately. 5 players will form a plus (+) in the middle of the arena, while the remaining 3 players will go to 11, 3, and 7 o’clock respectively.

Positions 2 (65 HP)

For the second wipe mechanic that occurs at 65 HP, the positioning is different. 2 players should stand at 11 o’clock, 3 at 5 o’clock, and 3 at 7 o’clock.

Each player at the 11, 5, and 7 o’clock positions will need to pick up one orb in turn. Players should call out now, which one is going first. Usually, this is done by writing in the chat your position followed by the order in which you will take the orb (e.g. 11-1 means that you are in the 11 o’clock position and will be the first one to pick up an orb). Therefore, before starting the raid, you should know which player is 11-1, 11-2, 5-1, 5-2, 5-3, 7-1, 7-2, and 7-3.

Vykas Phase 2 Purple Fold/Red Unfold – Wipe Mechanic (120 HP)

The first major wipe mechanic occurs at 120 HP when Vykas teleports to the middle. Players should take Positions 1 as mentioned in the Preparation phase. 5 orbs will spawn in the middle of the arena and players that formed the plus (+) formation should each pick up one (if one player picks up 2 orbs, they die). At the same time, 3 shadows will spawn at the 11, 3, and 7 o’clock positions.

The 3 players who are in these positions should check the wings of each shadow; one will have both wings folded, the second will have one wing folded, and the third will have both wings unfolded. Then, the 3 players should each call which shadow has which wing format. (e.g. if the shadow at 11 o’clock has both wings unfolded, the player at that position should write/call “11-unfolded”. Another option is to think of the wings as open, half-open, and closed. Therefore the call would be “11-open” or “11o” for short.

As for the 5 players that picked up orbs, a symbol will appear above their heads. For some, it will be purple while for others red. What matters here is which one is the majority colour. If there are more purple orbs than red, all 8 players should run to the shadow will both wings folded, then to the one with one wing folded, and lastly to the one with both wings unfolded. If there are more red orbs than purple, players should do the exact opposite (both unfolded -> one folded -> both folded).

Based on the chat, 7 is open, 3 is closed, and 11 is half-open. Since the majority colour is purple, the pathing is 3-11-7.

Lastly, it is important that the 3 players who check the shadows go back to the middle with everyone else immediately after checking the shadow. This will ensure that everyone will have enough time to run to the appropriate shadow.

The ULTIMATE VYKAS GUIDE Phase 2

Vykas Phase 2 Orbs – Wipe Mechanic (65 HP)

The second major wipe mechanic starts at 65 HP with Vykas teleporting to the middle. Players should take Positions 2 as mentioned in the Preparation phase.

3 shadows will spawn at 11, 5, and 7 o’clock. Each shadow will pulse with a red or black aura a total of 5 times. Then, it will throw a total of 5 orbs (one for each pulse) towards Vykas. Players should only pick up the orbs respective to the black pulses, not the red ones. The tricky part is that all orbs thrown will appear black and players will need to remember, based on the previous pulses, which are the red ones that should be avoided.

For instance, if the shadow at 11 o’clock pulses Black-Red-Black-Black-Red, players should take orbs 1, 3, and 4, while letting orbs 2 and 5 reach Vykas. One common strategy that we recommend in this Vykas Phase 2 complete guide in Lost Ark, is to type the exact order in which the orbs should be picked up. In the previous example, players would need to type “11-1,3,4” or “11 – BRBBR”. This signal that, for the 11 o’clock shadow, players should pick up orbs 1, 3, and 4.

It is recommended to always have 2 players in each position that will pick up the first 2 orbs. 2 out of the 3 positions will have 3 black orbs that need to be picked up, while 1 position will only have 2. If the positions that have 3 orbs are 5 and 7 o’clock, players simply stay as they are. If either the 7 or the 5 o’clock has 2, then the player who is in the position that has 2 should rotate immediately to 11 o’clock, which will have 3.

An alternative way that doesn’t require using all 3 players is using Timestop Potion/Splendid Panacea (normal Panacea won’t work). Use Splendid Panacea before taking the first orb to protect yourself from debuffs and then take 2 orbs freely. You can also use timestop if there are 2 black orbs in a row, just make sure you get the timing right. The party will be wiped if one player takes 2 orbs without using Splendid Panacea.

In Normal Mode, players can succeed this mechanic even if they miss 1 black orb. In Hard Mode, players must not miss any orbs.

Vykas Phase 2 Random Attack Patterns

While there are only 2 mechanics that can wipe the entire party, there is a wide variation of attack patterns that occur at any time and can easily kill the targeted player.

Moving Lasers

This mechanic usually first occurs early on, at around 130 HP. Vykas teleports to the middle and targets each player with a laser that will follow them for the next 5 seconds. Each player should head towards the edge of the arena, keep distance from each other and move steadily clockwise until the lasers disappear.

Purple Ring

Vykas targets one player with a purple marker. Then a purple ring appears that follows the marked player. That player should head towards the edge of the arena, and pick up the ring after pinging the pick-up location. Everyone else should avoid the ring while running towards the opposite edge of the arena to dodge the huge AoE attack that follows. If players don’t have the time to make it to the opposite edge, they can use a Time Stop potion to protect them.

For the player that is being targeted by the ring, do not juggle the ring too much. After a few seconds, it detonates even if not picked up. Therefore, you should run to the closest edge of the arena and warn your teammates to start running immediately.

Personal Pools

Vykas targets a few random players with a debuff. These players have a purple-coloured cone ahead of them that will shoot and hit everyone in front of them. Targeted players should move to the edge of the arena to avoid hitting any teammates and then dodge the explosions that follow.

When below 50 HP, Vykas’ attacks will transfer a debuff to the players. When players receive 3 stacks of that debuff, they will have a purple-coloured one on them, similar to the previous mechanic. It is recommended to keep an eye on your debuffs, use Panacea when reaching 2 stacks, and run towards the edge of the arena if you reach 3 stacks and the cone spawns on you.

Rotating Walls

This pattern can occur up to 3 times during the fight. Vykas teleports to the middle and summons red walls that rotate around her. At the same time, there are huge AoE explosions with small safe zones. Players must be in the safe zones while also avoiding the rotating walls.

In addition, if the party needs extra DPS, players can use Flame Grenades on the boss, as it will stay stationary in the middle for a while.

This is the end of Vykas Phase 2 Complete Guide in Lost Ark. Random attack patterns are the trickiest part of Phase 2 but with persistence and proper coordination, players can clear it. For a quick recap, a Reddit user has posted a cheat sheet for Vykas. Good luck with all the mechanics and we’ll see you soon in the Phase 3 guide!
