Resident Evil Re:Verse Character Guide

This guide will help you understand how each character works in Resident Evil Re:Verse, along with the best possible choices depending on your playstyle. The game has a regular learning curve but it's so fast-paced that this guide is going to come in handy, especially if you're new at the game.

Resident Evil Re:Verse Character Guide.

Resident Evil Re:Verse has been released almost 1 year and 6 months later than its official release date. It should have come out on May 2021 along with Resident Evil Village, but the multiplayer game is finally here! The game has only one game mode which is a very frenetic free-for-all match with a 5 minutes duration where you fight against other players using the most beloved Resident Evil characters. The matches are so fast-paced that you will inevitably feel confused at the beginning. Worry not, since I’ve made this Re:Verse Character Guide to help you understand the loadout and skills of each Human, as well as a few useful strategies with each character.

Resident Evil Re:Verse Character Guide – Humans

There are 6 different Human Characters to play as and they’re all available to use since the beginning. They have different loadouts and skills, and they are also significantly more powerful than most Creatures. Dodging is a great way to avoid getting attacked by enemies while you shoot them. All Humans share the ability to dodge, so it doesn’t matter which one you choose for this specific matter. They also have only 2 weapons when they spawn: an infinite handgun and a stronger weapon with limited ammo.

Chris Redfield

Chris Redfield is the first playable character in Resident Evil Re:Verse and also the first one we’re going to cover in this guide. He doesn’t need presentations if you’re a Resident Evil fan. He appears in every single numbered game of the saga (except for Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4).

Weapons

  • USM-AI: Regular Handgun.
  • Dragoon: Assault Rifle with balanced damage and fire rate.
Chris's Loadout and Default Stats.

Skills

  • Active Skill 1: Indomitable Spirit – Makes you practically invincible for a very short period of time. Great when you’re starting to feel vulnerable or after taking too much damage.
  • Active Skill 2: AMG-78 Powered Exoskeleton – A devastating punch that knocks down Human enemies. Useful to land the first blow.
  • Passive Skill: Pride of the Original Eleven – You deal more damage to Creatures if your HP is low.

Tips & Strategies

Chris is probably the easiest character to learn. His skills are powerful for both attack and defense. If you’re new to the game, he is definitely the best available option. The best approach to engage in combat with Chris is dodging towards the enemy to quickly use his punching ability to knock down Human enemies before they get the chance to deal too much damage to you.

If successful, you will have enough room to kill your adversary using Chris’s assault rifle. If you somehow miss the opportunity to land a punch, dodge and use Indomitable Spirit to stay in the fight without losing HP. The same strategies apply against Creatures. Creatures won’t get stunned with your punch for too long though but will deal significant damage and you will still have enough time to dodge and use Indomitable Spirit to keep inflicting damage without worrying about your HP.

Jill Valentine

The beloved protagonist of Resident Evil 3 is packed with a nice arsenal and a couple of skills that are hard to master but can be very rewarding if you know what you’re doing.

Weapons

  • Samurai Edge: Regular Handgun.
  • CQBR: Assault Rifle with balanced damage and fire rate.
Jill's Loadout and Default Stats.

Skills

  • Active Skill 1: Land Mine – A mine that detonates if an enemy steps on it or shoots it. Useful to cover your back and recover from damage.
  • Active Skill 2: HOT DOGGER – A powerful knife that can be used at close range. If used right after dodging damage increases and Human enemies get knocked. Useful to land the first blow.
  • Passive Skill: Last Escape – Attack damage increases after dodging.
Jill's Skill Set.

Jill’s Skill Set.

Tips & Strategies

Jill Valentine is a “high risk, high reward” kind of character since you need to get really close to enemies to deal massive damage with the HOT DOGGER. However, if successful, it will most likely help you easily kill any enemy standing in your path. Dodging towards Human enemies before attacking with your special knife will significantly increase your chances to land an attack and stun your enemy for a couple of seconds, giving you enough time to shoot them with your assault rifle and kill them easily.

You want to keep a short distance from Human enemies to use your HOT DOGGER more effectively. Against Creatures, you want to do the complete opposite though. Keep your distance. Use Land Mines to slow them down and inflict damage from a safe distance. Don’t stop shooting them unless they’re too close to you. Land Mines are your best friends against all Creatures.

Leon S. Kennedy

The R.P.D cop that caused an undeniable impact on Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, and even Resident Evil 6 is another easy character so it’s the second-best choice for beginners. He has a very powerful arsenal with decent yet easy-to-use skills.

Weapons

  • Matilda: Regular Handgun.
  • W-870: Leon’s Shotgun. Very high damage, but highly reduced range and fire rate. Personal recommendation: Aim to the head!
Leon's Loadout and Default Stats.

Skills

  • Active Skill 1: Dual Wield – Dual handguns with increased fire rate and ammo capacity. Very useful when running out of shotgun shells.
  • Active Skill 2: Roundhouse Kick – A powerful kick that can hit multiple targets. Similar to Chris’s punch, it knocks back enemies allowing you to deal easy damage to them.
  • Passive Skill: Rookie Spirit – Slowly recover all HP when it reaches a critical level.
Leon's Skill Set.

Leon’s Skill Set.

Tips & Strategies

Leon is another good option for rookies. He is easy to use and his skills are very balanced. His shotgun deals massive damage but forces you to get close to enemies. Try to surprise enemies with a Roundhouse Kick and then start blasting them with your shotgun. The closer you manage to get, the greater amount of damage your shotgun will apply. If you engage in an inevitable combat from a long distance, the Dual Wield pistols are your best shot.

Try not to engage in close combat against Creatures though, since Leon won’t have many chances to escape from a finisher attack. Use your Dual Wield pistols against Creatures from a safe distance and only use your shotgun if they’re too close to you. Your Roundhouse Kick won’t be too useful against them, so you should only use it as a last resource.

Claire Redfield

The heroine of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, and Resident Evil Revelations 2 has a very distinctive loadout compared to previous characters, but that doesn’t mean she’s not a viable choice.

Weapons

  • Quickdraw Army: 6 rounds revolver with a very high fire rate but very low reload speed.
  • MQ 11: Submachine Gun with a high ammo capacity and fire rate, but reduced damage.
Claire's Loadout and Default Stats.

Skills

  • Active Skill 1: Adrenaline Shot – Recovers a slight amount of HP and replenishes stamina.
  • Active Skill 2: Modified Alternator – An electricity grenade that stuns and slightly damages enemies in its blast radius. Very good to defend yourself from incoming attacks.
  • Passive Skill: Speedloader – Instantly reloads the Quickdraw Army after dodging if equipped.
Claire's Skill Set.

Claire’s Skill Set.

Tips & Strategies

Claire is the most defensive character in the game. She is a great option if you always want to have enough time to recover or reload your weapons. She’s not too complicated to use either, so it’s definitely worth giving her a go. The best approach using Claire is trying to engage in combat from a medium range. Long distances are awful for Claire’s Submachine Gun but short distances can be deadly too since Claire takes a little time to throw her Modified Alternator.

If you engage in close combat against other characters, it might be too late for you. The best approach is trying to stun enemies with your Modified Alternator in order to shoot them easily with the SMG. The Modified Alternator stuns both Humans and Creatures, so that strategy applies to both. Against Creatures, you will take a little longer to kill them though, but you can always avoid getting attacked by dodging backwards to instantly replenish your stamina using an Adrenaline Shot, which is also good if you take too much damage and want a little HP boost.

Ada Wong

Ada is easily one of the strongest characters in the game, but also one of the hardest to master too. She is packed with a very particular loadout as well as a few interesting skills that can be quite useful in combat if you know how to use them.

Weapons

  • Broom HC: Regular Handgun.
  • Crossbow: A bow with very limited ammo that must be reloaded after every single shot, but it deals massive damage from any distance.
Ada's Loadout and Default Stats.

Skills

  • Active Skill 1: Pipe Bomb Arrow – Jump and shoot a modified arrow in the direction of your reticle. Deals massive damage to enemies in its blast radius. It’s a very hard to master skill, but deadly once you get the hang of it.
  • Active Skill 2: Somersault Kick – A backwards kick that knocks Human enemies within a very short distance. Considerably weaker than Chris’s punch or Leon’s kick though.
  • Passive Skill: A Spy’s Wisdom – Recovers a slight amount of stamina when your HP reaches critical levels.
Ada's Skill Set.

Ada’s Skill Set.

Tips & Strategies

Ada has a very powerful loadout and skills. Her bow requires precision and accuracy, but it becomes deadly once you know how to use it. Her Pipe Bomb Arrow is even harder to use, but it has devastating effects on all enemies. Despite having a couple of useful close range skills, it is best to try to keep enemies as far from you as you can. Your Crossbow will inflict enough damage to kill enemies in 3 shots or so.

If you somehow find yourself in close range combat (which will be a clear disadvantage for Ada’s weapons), your Pipe Bomb Arrow and Somersault Kick will help you get out of that situation quickly, allowing you to deal enough damage to kill your opponent or create enough distance between you and them. The more damage you can do from a safe distance, the greater your chances to emerge victorious from every single combat. The same strategies apply against Creatures since they will also be vulnerable to your bow from long distances.

Hunk

What’s a deadly free-for-all match without Resident Evil’s most mysterious mercenary? Raccoon City’s 4th Survivor is here and overpowered as usual.

Weapons

  • MUP: Regular Handgun.
  • LE 5: Submachine Gun with balanced damage and fire rate.
Hunk's Loadout and Default Stats.

Hunk’s Loadout and Default Stats.

Skills

  • Active Ability 1: Active Cloaking – Allows you to become transparent and muffles the sound of your footsteps. Not even close to being invisible though.
  • Active Ability 2: Assassinate – Charges forward to stab an opponent with a hidden blade. Using it while cloaked does bonus damage.
  • Passive Skill: Tragedy of the Reaper – Striking an enemy with Assassinate while cloaked extends the duration of Active Cloaking.
Hunk's Skill Set.

Hunk’s Skill Set.

Tips & Strategies

Hunk is a stealth type of character. If you like to lurk in the shadows and wait for an opening to attack your unaware prey, then this is definitely the character you want to go for. You should use your Active Cloaking whenever you feel like you’re close to encounter an enemy.

Prioritize landing an Assassinate attack, which will deal a HUGE amount of damage and stun enemies for a couple of seconds allowing you to inflict a little more damage with your SMG. Hunk’s whole strength comes from that only Assassinate attack, which is probably the most effective close range attack of all characters. He doesn’t have any strengths at long distances though, so same strategies apply against Creatures. Even Nemesis will fear getting struck with that attack.

That was my Character Guide for Resident Evil Re:Verse. The game can be accessed upon purchasing any version of Resident Evil Village. The Gold Edition also includes the new Winters’ Expansion DLC available for PCPS4 & PS5Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
