Lost Ark Currency Guide

Use this guide to get a better understanding on which currencies are more relevant to whatever you need to do at any given point in Lost Ark. The sheer amount of currencies alone make it difficult to keep tabs on everything always, so we collected the most relevant information on each of them for your convenience.

Lost Ark Currency GuideLost Ark has taken the gaming world by storm, at least among those of us that enjoy MMORPGs, however, it came with an enormous amount of content, ranging from customization options to a vast number of quests and, of course, its various currencies. It can be daunting and overwhelming to try and wrap your head around all the currencies, how they relate to each other, how they work, which ones are the ones you may be looking for, etc… So we are bringing a guide to understanding Lost Ark‘s currencies which should prove useful to you.

Check out our other Lost Ark guides:

  2. How to Create and Manage Guilds

Note: Throughout this guide, you will see NPC names mentioned regarding some of these currencies, namely, who to go to when you want to make use of the currencies. Use the “search” field in-game on the map to find them more easily. To see most of the Lost Ark Currencies you have, click on the chest icon in the top menu.

Silver Coins

Silver Coins

Silver Coins

What Silver Coins Are For

Silver can be used for a variety of things, from crafting materials and repairs to fast travel, item and gear upgrades, and much more. It is Silver Coins the currency you will likely be using more often. They’re crucial, and you’ll almost certainly constantly want more. Later in the game you should have millions and it won’t be a big problem.

Lost Ark’s base currency is silver. These are silver coins that can be obtained through killing monsters, as well as by completing particular dungeons, quests, and events. Silver is what I would call the main “gameplay” currency, because of the way you obtain it and the several different uses it has.

How to Get Silver Coins

There is no direct way to “purchase” silver, and grinding for it can be a pain, so the easiest way is to make a habit of doing your daily quests that offer a silver reward and simply playing the game. The higher level you will become the more silver you will have at your disposal. If you are a guild member then you can buy silver in the guild store in exchange for Sylmael Bloodstones. You should simply:

  1. Do all three daily quests every day.
  2. Do three weekly quests.
  3. Farm Chaos dungeons and Raids as much as possible.
  4. Finish all the quests you can find because they can often give you tens of thousands golds.
  5. Join a guild and exchange your Sylmael bloodstones for silver if needed. You can get from 2.500 to 10.000 silver. Find out more here.
  6. Complete NPC relationships and Rapport tasks.
  7. Spend Ancient Platinum Coins for 20k Silver and Ancient Gold Coins for 1000 silver. These are rewarded from quests too.
  8. A good spot to get rich is to visit Lopang Island. Do the Una’s quests here six times (56.000 silver) to get the island quests. The quests will give you 81.300 after completing them. So just from this island you can get 137.300 silver and 100 gold.

In general if you do quests and do as much content as possible you shouldn’t have any big issues and will have enough silver for anything you need.

Gold Coins

Gold Coins

Gold Coins

What Gold Coins Are For

The game’s trading currency is gold. It is incredibly significant and is used to purchase items on the Auction House. Gold is scarce in the game. You can think of gold as your way to transact and interact economically with other players.

Gold has several uses:

  1. Use it craft items and research new upgrades in your stronghold.
  2. Trade with other players.
  3. Use in the Auction House to bid for Blue Crystals

Some players would say that gold is the most important currency of them all. The game does a good job of keeping that way by just how scarce it is.

How to Get Gold Coins

You can buy gold through the in-game shop, which can be a contentious subject in the community. There are some other ways to get gold as well, by relying on your Epona batches and Island compass that will let you know of any events that offer a gold reward.

Most of the gold you can farm will come from weekly events, dungeons, raids and rapport quests. You can get thousands of golds if you finish several rapport quests for the main characters in the game but the biggest reward is behind the stats requirements like Charisma and it is not possible to finish them until you get to the end game. You can take a look at this table showing the amount you can get from each character.

Another way to get Gold Coins is by buying it, using Una’s Tokens. We have listed Una’s Tokens further down in this list, too.

Blue Crystals

Blue Crystals

Blue Crystals

What Blue Crystals Are For

These are a one-of-a-kind form of coinage in Lost Ark. They can be used to purchase cosmetics, consumables, pets, and gold from the in-game store.

How to Get Blue Crystals

They’re a bit contentious because they may be bought with real money but are otherwise difficult to come by in-game. They may, however, be traded for gold in the Auction House, so you’ll never be left out if you don’t spend real money or you can get a few of them via daily login rewards. The auction house mechanics can also be a bit daunting at first, so I’ll take a moment to explain it, since it circles around Blue Crystals and Gold.

Auction House

When you get to the auction house you are greeted with a window that offers close to no explanation as to what is going on. There are two main tabs at the top, and the one you are on first is called “Item trade”. The other one is “Transaction history”, but that one is pretty self-explanatory, so I’ll focus on the Item trade.

Auction House

Auction House

The first thing you’re gonna want to check out in the action house is the sale/buy offers. The first box on the upper left side is the “Crystal sale” offers. These are the crystals that are currently being offered by other players and at what rate they are being offered. The chart will show the 5 lowest prices for you to buy the crystals. It may not make a lot of sense to you that there are more offers above the asking price of the bottom pool or crystals, until you take into consideration the “Buying Crystals” box, right underneath the one you were just looking at. Here you find offers that go the other way around, where players can make an offer to buy 100 blue crystals for X amount of gold. So if someone needs more gold than blue crystals, then they can see your offer and maybe just sell it to you for that price. Or not. In such case, the offer would expire.

Royal Crystals

Royal Crystals

What Royal Crystals Are For

Royal Crystals are the most premium of the currencies, in the sense that you would use them to get exclusive or semi-exclusive items such as skins, pets, or weapons.

Money. This being the actual premium currency of the game, it can only be obtained by using real world money that will get you a certain number of Crystals in exchange for whatever amount you’re choosing to transact for.

Sylmael Bloodstones

Sylmael Bloodstones

Sylmael Bloodstones

What Sylmael Bloodstones Are For

These can be exchanged for a variety of products. You can spend them in a guild-only store at Sylmael Bloodstone Exchange NPC. They are also crucial for your guild to spend in guild research. However to be able to buy the higher tier items the guild store must be researched by the guild. What can you get for them precisely?

  1. XP Potions and Silver – medium and large combat XP potions, siege silver chests (2.500, 4.500 or 10.000 silver).
  2. Honing materials – harmony shard pouches, destruction stone fragments, guardian stone fragments, harmony leapstones, life shard pouches, destruction stones, guardian stones, life leapstones, honor shard pouches, destruction stone crystals, guardian stone crystals, honor leapstones, great honor leapstones.
  3. Entrance Cube tickets and Materials – entrance ticket chests for cubes tier 1 to tier 3, Star’s Breath, Moon’s Breath, Sun Supplementary Material Chest, Powder of Sage.

How to Get Sylmael Bloodstones

Sylmael Bloostones (also known as Guild Crystals or Sylmael Crystals) are earned through participating in guild activities. GvG and GvE events, guild missions, raids, dungeons, and other events fall under this category. They are relatively effortless to acquire but the guild managment must set up correctly the bloodstones distribution to be able to pay for guild research and to share them among the members.

Una’s Tokens

Una's Tokens

Una’s Tokens

What Una’s Tokens Are For

When you find a Gold shop NPC in your map, you can visit him with your tokens and exchange them for a gold bag or chest of different values according to the item and tier. If you can get 500 tokens for your exchange, you’ll get the largest chest that not only offers a decent amount of gold (1300), but also has the chance to drop a gold bar worth 10.000 additional gold coins.

Una’s Tokens aren’t found in your “currencies” tab like most other currencies and tokens. These will rather sit in your inventory like regular items.

How to Get Una’s Tokens

You will be able to collect Una’s Tokens from completing daily and weekly challenges from Una’s tasks, which in turn will allow you to get more tokens as your progress.

Una’s Token’s Farming:

  1. Daily tasks can be completed 3 times a day with every one of your characters. Each time will give you 2 tokens.
  2. Weekly tasks can also be performed 3 times during the week with everyone of your characters. Each will award you 12 tokens.

The best way is to have at least one alt and do the quests on both characters. This way it is very easy to get to the weekly cap.

Pheons

Pheons

Pheons

What Pheons Are For

Peons are a different type of trading currency. Along with gold, these are used to conduct trades on the Auction House where you can find rare gear and consumables. Not in the exact same way as using gold to purchase Blue Crystals. Instead, some specialized items such as skin chests and skins in general are being sold in the Auction House in exchange of gold and pheons together.

How to Get Pheons

They are effectively a gold supplement that can only be purchased with real money or Blue Crystals from the in-game cash shop. So you can get your earn gold as written above, use that gold to purchase Blue Crystals, and then in turn use those Blue Crystals to purchase Pheons, which you can then use to purchase whatever item that is being sold and needs some pheons to finish the transaction. Fun, right?

You can also fin an Amethyst Shard Exchange NPC and buy 5 Pheons in exchange of 2,200 Amethyst shards. However, be mindful that you can only take advantage of this method 5 time per roster, permanently.

Rift Pieces

Rift Pieces

Rift Pieces

What Rift Pieces Are For

Rift Pieces (also known as Rift Shards) are a currency that can only be used to purchase map boxes from the Rift Piece Exchange NPC in every major city. You can use them to purchase random map boxes called Ancestor’s Secret Map chests, which allow you to use a map and complete specific dungeons in order to find a variety of rewards. The most valuable legendary secret map drops also from Chaos gates (more details below).

Chaos gate quests

Chaos gate quests

How to Get Rift Pieces

Rift encounters, also (and more commonly) known as Chaos Gates, are in-game occurrences that can be earned by partaking in them. These events are locked inside the calendar using the stopwatch icon which is only accessible once you reach level 50, so you better get grinding and finish the main storyline. Just be sure to check out what Chaos gate you wish to do because there is only 1 per day available to get the Procyon’s reward. Check out the image above to see more details.

In Chaos gates up to 30 people kill the mobs and bosses. After the Chaos gate is finished there is an auction to get a secret map. The highest bidder gets the map and all the money is shared among all the participants. Let’s say someone wins the map for 290 gold so everyone except him will get 10 gold coins which you receive into your mailbox (you must visit the Mail carrier to get it).Why is the map so valuable? Because you can use it together with your friends (4x the map reward), go to the legendary map location and get T1 to T3 honing materials which can be sold for hundreds of golds on the market. Or used by you for the equipment upgrades. It is common that the owner of the map invites people after the Chaos gate is complete to join his group and you must pay him for the opportunity. Or, 4 players with the same map join together and use all 4 maps to get the rewards. This way you get 4 rewards just for one map you own which proves very efficient and usually earns you much more than what you had to pay for the map.

Pirate Coins

Pirate Coins

Pirate Coins

What Pirate Coins Are For

The main use of Pirate coins is to use them for sailing activities and to exchange them for other types of currencies. One of the main purposes for the Pirate coins is to pay for your sailing missions you send from your Stronghold to get nice rewards. You will need them also for some quests where you must pay with them for prisoners or some items. The 5 varieties of Voyage Coins can all be purchased with Pirate Coins.

Also, the materials for your ship are attainable in exchange for the Pirate Coins as well. They can also be traded for extra resources or consumables with pirates (who are usually stationed in merchant ships in harbors). You may also use them to buy emotes, songs, some items or even finish some quests in other places.

The different varieties of Voyage Coins exist because some vendors have a preference for one or the other. With them you can acquire several things like collectibles and ship parts, among others. These may also be converted to regular Pirate Coins if necessary.

How to Get Voyage Coins

Across all the different islands you will find and be rewarded chests that contain these coins. The chests let you choose which of the 5 varieties of coins you want as a reward, so it is important not to claim them right away, and rather just wait and see what you may need and then make your choice. The 5 varieties are: Gienah’s Coin, Sceptrum’s Coin, Ancient Coin, Arcturus’ Coin, and Sun Coin.

Providence Stones (Carnelians)

Providence Stones

Providence Stones

What Providence Stones Are For

Providence Stones are the heart-shaped stones that you get by completing quests and may be traded with Exchange Rapport NPC Nada in every major city. They are the Lost Ark NPC connection (relationship) currency. You can use them to purchase affinity boxes, region specialties or skins and cosmetic boxes, which allow you to either strengthen your bonds with NPCs or just alter your appearance.

Rapport items serve a simple but important purpose in the game: they increase your rapport with NPCs. Building relationships with determined NPCs leads to better benefits and rewards in the long run.

Bonus: How to get free skins in Lost Ark

Are you wondering how to get skins for your character without spending real money? We got you! Skins are not really convenient for everyone but we are sure that every sorceress out there will be happy to change the basic yellow pajamas for something much better. For that you will need either 35k or 70k Providence Stones. You can just choose if you want to get a green one or the gold one you can see on the image below. However, for Paladins or other classes skins may not be something you want to wear in the game. But still, you should check it and use the magnifying glass for yourself and maybe you will like it. In every case you can make yourself stand out from the vast majority of players buying the Lofty Sentiment Skin from Nada.

Skins for free

The other option is to farm chaos dungeons. If you enter purple or gold portal on the second floor (not a regular blue one) you need to kill a boss or a treasure NPC. There is a small change to get a Border Guardian skin from them.

How to Get Providence Stones

Killing specified creatures and completing certain daily missions are both ways to get them. Also the majority of normal (Yellow) quests usually reward you with some Providence stones and one of the best way is to send ships on missions from your stronghold. You can also focus on rapport quests which give you quite a lot of providence stones after you finish them.

  • Kill Alpha and Elite enemies – you can see them on the minimap and they have a mark over their heads. You don’t many Providence Stones but you can kill them easily while travelling.
  • Send crews on missions from your Stronghold – you can get 120 Providence stones for 4h mission and much more for 8h, 12h or 1d missions. So do them as much as you can on a daily basis.
  • Finish normal and sudden quests – the reward differs. Could be just a few hundreds to thousands.
  • Finish rapport quests – the reward differs. Could be just a few hundreds to thousands.
  • Complete daily quests – Usually you get around 600-800 providence stones per quest. It is best to have alts and focus on the quests which give zou Providence Stones. You can even save the location in your Bifrost slots not to lose time travelling there every day. With two alts and one main you can get daily around 6.000 Providence Stones.
  • Complete dungeons, which are:
    1. Maze of Mirrors – Quest: Blinding Fog
    2. Realm of Elementals – Quest: Fallen Flamekeeper
    3. Ancient Elveria – Quest: Sigmund’s Whereabouts
    4. Night of Walpurgis – Quest: Repair the Magic Barrier
    5. Vrad’s Hideout – Quest: Finding Vrad
    6. Frostpeak Temple – Quest: Wolves at the Sanctum
    7. Gorgon’s Nest – Quest: Qualifications to Enter Balankar
    8. Phantom Palace – Quest: Elzowin’s Defender

Stronghold Seals

Stronghold Seals

Stronghold Seals

What Stronghold Seals Are For

You will be able to use the different variety of Seals with different vendors around your island stronghold. Namely Victory Seals, Raid Seals and Adventurer’s Seals. There is a vendor always stationed near the docks in your stronghold (only for a few hours and then another one comes in with different stuff to sell), and the types of seal are not all that relevant because you can even convert one type to the other with ease. Better to save your seals for the rotating vendors that come and go.

How to Get Stronghold Seals

Once you have a crew to send in missions, they will come back from the mission with these seals. You can always choose the best missions and try to get the seals you need.

When tackling Lost  Ark you can be a bit overwhelmed at first, with all the different types of quests, items and, of course currencies. It is quite easy to get lost and forget what the currencies are for or how to get them. It get’s even more challenging considering that a lot of the items from the game are referred to by different names, be it because the developers just change the name of items in the English version or maybe some terms get lost in translation and then corrected. So it’s not weird to run into articles online that may be outdated. We hope this guide is sufficiently updated and proves to be helpful for your game. Do let us know if you think something is missing or downright wrong in the comments below.
