Intro Guide: 5 Things You Should Know Before Playing Haimrik Cover

Right after developing Story Warriors Fairy Tales, Below The Game ( a Colombian video game studio developer) released, this past June 19, 2018, Haimrik. Haimrik is an innovative take on interactive medieval stories with a unique puzzle-solving gameplay integrated into the story. In order to progress through the game, the player must solve the puzzles by stepping over words as if they were the floor and grabbing the words in the story making them come to life, defeating other words that also come to life and may hurt the player.

1) Gore/Comic/Horror/Action/Puzzles

Haimrik is a game that is kind of hard to catalog in a single game genre.  This game has a lot of influence from many other projects and is not ashamed of showing them. The art style, the gameplay, the humor, are all elements that flash out and make this game an amalgamation of different ideas and expressions quite unique. So if you are up to an experience that really differentiates from many other this game is the one, I’m sure anyone can find something in this game that they love, either its style, its humor, it’s gore or even the amount of different aspects the gameplay has (action, puzzle solving, platforming, etc…)

2) You gotta Read… a lot

The big differentiating aspect of this game is the way you have to interact with words to progress through the story, different puzzles, and bosses in the game. This adventure is all focused on reading it, so you will have to read the whole story as you play and interact with it, so if you do not like to read think twice before buying this game. If by any reason you like reading (just as much as I like it) then this game is for you, and I can assure you that you will like it and experience something new.

3) Challenging Gameplay

There is not much to say about this, but the gameplay is challenging and is something that is best if you experience it by yourself, for its kind of difficult to express the way the gameplay changes and becomes each time more challenging.  The best I can say is that you will have to read and interpret what you read very well, and each time it gets more difficult.

4) Dark Humor

The humor plays a big role in the way the game tells its story visually and written. It’s very usual to see scenes and real-time events that take a dark but funny turn as you progress. This is one of the elements that really makes the whole story fun and exciting, because you may know what will happen, but you will surely not be aware of how it will happen and the funny moments that it will present you to make that happen.

5) Creative and unique experiences

Haimrik is a game that really shines when it comes to its creativity. This game offers experiences that, at least for me, are new and enjoyable. I’m pretty sure that anyone who has a genuine love for video games and is looking for a game like no other and decides to give this game a chance he/she will not regret it. Additionally, the game story and the gameplay are the things that really helps this game feel unique in a way that it is refreshing (the gameplay is very original), and fun (the story may not be something new, but there are little elements that make it unique compared to other similar stories).
