Soviet 1 – Lesson in Blood

Soviet 1 – Lesson in Blood

Soviet 1 – Lesson in Blood

Mission: Destroy the civilian town and all resistance you meet.

Use your Yak aircraft to shoot the oil barrels across the river. Once the first barrels are destroyed a few infantry units will parachute in. The enemy resistance is low so you can use your ground forces to destroy everything but having your Yaks help out is also fun.

There is a second bridge you can cross, use your Yaks to destroy those barrels so the Pillboxes can’t kill your infantry. Destroy the remaining buildings.

Soviet 2 A – Guard Duty North

Soviet 2 A – Guard Duty North

Soviet 2 A – Guard Duty North

Mission: Protect the Command Centre and destroy all Allied units and structures.

First, build an Ore Refinery and start mining. You can set up some Flame Towers to protect your base, these are very effective against infantry, just keep your own troops away from them or they’ll become collateral damage.

There’s a bridge to the West of your base surrounded by oil barrels. Once you try and cross it, the enemy will destroy the barrels and kill all your troops on the bridge so just destroy the barrels first.

The Allied base is located West, just on the other side of this bridge. You can get there by moving South to the edge of the map, then West. The Allied Ore Truck will be harvesting down there. Be careful when attacking it as it will try and run over your troops. Press X to scatter your troops and avoid that.

The base is protected by several Turrets but these are useless against infantry. There are a few Rocket Soldiers who will shoot down your Yaks if you use them so just stick to ground forces.

Soviet 2 B – Guard Duty South

Soviet 2 B – Guard Duty South

Soviet 2 B – Guard Duty South

Mission: Protect the Command Centre and destroy all Allied units and structures.

Start your base with an Ore Refinery so you can get your economy underway. Use the Flame Towers to defend your base, they are incredibly effective against infantry, your own included so be careful with them.

There’s a bridge to the East of your base. Send one unit across, once you’re halfway, the enemies will destroy the bridge and probably kill your unit.

The Allied base is located on the other side of the bridge, you can get there by moving East. When you find the Allied Ore Truck, press X to use the evade function when it tries to run over your troops. The base is protected by a few Turrets which won’t do much against your soldiers. Don’t bother building Yaks in this mission, they will be shot down by enemy Rocket Soldiers.

Soviet 3 – Covert Cleanup

Soviet 3 – Covert Cleanup

Soviet 3 – Covert Cleanup

Mission: Use your Attack Dogs to track down and kill the enemy spy.

The spy is the soldier running out of your base before everything explodes. He looks just like one of your soldiers so you won’t be able to target him with any units but your Attack Dogs, who can smell the Allied filth on him.

Move your dogs South until you see the Pillbox. There’s a civilian building guarded by a single enemy soldier. Kill this soldier with your Attack Dogs and a few of your own soldiers will emerge from the building. Move these soldiers South along the ridge to destroy some oil barrels which will destroy the Pillbox and clear the way for you.

Follow the path to the West. The Spy will hide in a church but will flee when you approach and get into a Transport which will take him North. Kill the enemy troops in this village to receive a few reinforcements then proceed North.

Keep your dogs safe as they are needed to kill the spy, rather take out the enemy troops using your soldiers. After killing the first few troops on the river crossing you’ll need to navigate past a bunch of fences. There’s an oil barrel within reach that you can shoot to kill all the Allied infantry around the fences. Move past the fences and kill the remaining Allied infantry. There are some more oil barrels ahead, be careful of these as the enemy will try and destroy them when you get near.

Once past, kill the enemy spy.

Soviet 4 A – Behind the Lines (North)

Soviet 4 A – Behind the Lines (North)

Soviet 4 A – Behind the Lines (North)

Mission: Destroy the Allied Radar Dome to stop their reinforcements, then destroy the remaining units and structures.

Deploy your base and start building your forces. Once you build an Airfield, you will gain access to the Spy Plane, which you can send out periodically to reveal a part of the base. I always try and priorities getting the Airfield up for this reason, especially on the larger maps.

The V2 Rocket Launchers have a slow reload time and not a lot of armor but can fire at enemies from a great distance, they are very effective against base defenses.

The Radar Dome is located in the North-West corner of the map. Once revealed you can use the Paratroopers drop to try and destroy it or just send in your tanks by sneaking through the civilian town to the West of your base and proceeding North from there. The enemy will continue to receive reinforcements until you destroy this building.

Once done, destroy the rest of the enemy base.

Soviet 4 B - Behind the Lines (South)

Soviet 4 B – Behind the Lines (South)

Soviet 4 B – Behind the Lines (South)

Mission: Destroy the Allied Radar Dome to stop their reinforcements, then destroy the remaining units and structures.

Build a base and gather some forces. Build an Airfield as soon as you can to unlock the Spy Plane which can be used periodically to reveal some of the map.

The Radar Dome is located in the North-East corner of the map. Send your forces to the far East, then cross the bridges North to reach it. I’d suggest taking only tanks and not your V2 Rocket Launchers as they might destroy the bridges by accident. If this happens, you can still use the Paratroopers to reach this location but it will take more time.

You have access to the Sub Pen and can build Transports from there but this is unnecessary. The enemy base is located just next to the area where you found the Radar Dome. You can attack from the South or West. Each side is protected by 2 Pillboxes and a Turret, use your V2 Rocket Launchers to take these out from a safe distance then destroy the rest of the base and all enemy units around the map.

Soviet 5 – Distant Thunder

Soviet 5 – Distant Thunder

Soviet 5 – Distant Thunder

Mission: Capture the Allied Radar Dome and secure the island in the middle of the map.

Get your economy up and running, there is a lot of Ore around you so you shouldn’t run out of funds anytime soon. Remember to build an Airfield soon so you can use your Spy Plane to reveal the map.

The first enemy base is located to the North-East of your location, this is where you’ll find the Radar Dome you need to capture. Destroy this base and send an Engineer to capture the Radar Dome.

You will also need to build a Sub Pen and get a few Submarines, the enemy base is surrounded by ships. Your Submarines are very strong against the enemy ships and will remain undetected until they start attacking, just note that if one Submarine is in the line of fire of another, it will take damage. They are stupid like that. Therefore, I suggest that before attacking an enemy ship to line up your Submarines first so they are out of each other’s way.

Once the base is gone, the Radar Dome is captured, and the enemy navy has been dealt with, build a few Transports to take your ground forces to the second island in the middle of the map. You can only load your forces into the Transports around the area where the first enemy base was. There is a drop-off point to the South-West of the second island where you can unload your forces, this is right next to your base. Once you’ve unloaded sufficient troops, take out the enemy’s second base.

Soviet 6 A – Bridge Over the River Grotzny

Soviet 6 A – Bridge Over the River Grotzny

Soviet 6 A – Bridge Over the River Grotzny

Mission: Protect the Cargo Trucks and transport them safely to the Soviet base in the North-East.

Your forces will be under fire as the mission starts, clean up the enemy forces but don’t deploy your MCV just yet. There is a clearing to the West of your current position which is close to Ore fields, move your forces there and start a base.

You’ll notice that you can now build a Tech Centre. This is a very expensive building that uses a lot of power, but in this mission, it only gives you access to Flamethrower Infantry. If you are not going to use those troops then don’t bother building the Tech Centre. There are a few enemy tanks located to the far East, destroy these first so they don’t bother you later. They’re protecting a bridge which will be destroyed as soon as you move onto it.

There’s an enemy base just North of yours, destroy it but capture at least one of the buildings. This will make it easier to place a Sub Pen since this base is close to the water.

There’s a walkway across the water to the East of this position, place your Sub Pen below this walkway otherwise, your Submarines will be locked in. You only need a few Submarines because there isn’t much of a naval force to deal with. However, to the far East you’ll find a number of Allied Cruisers. These ships are unable to fire on other ships but can do damage to land units over long distances. You will learn to hate these Cruisers as the campaign progresses. You may need to use your Submarines to blast a hole through the bridge that was destroyed a while ago to get to the last Cruisers.

Once the Cruisers are out of the way, send your ground forces to the North-East to clear out the last remaining units, then send your Cargo Trucks in to complete the mission.

Soviet 6 B – Bridge Over the River Vizchgoi

Soviet 6 B – Bridge Over the River Vizchgoi

Soviet 6 B – Bridge Over the River Vizchgoi

Mission: Protect the Cargo Trucks and transport them safely to the Soviet base in the North-East.

Kill the enemy troops attacking you as the mission starts. Once they’re gone move your forces West, then North. Don’t just go North or you’ll run into an enemy base. Move North-West until you see Ore on the edge of the map and start your base there.

You can scout to the North to reveal all the Ore. Enemy ground forces cannot attack you from there, but their Cruisers can target you from the water. Thus, you need to build a Sub Pen and send some Submarines to take care of the enemy navy. Assemble your ground forces while you do this.

When your Submarines reach the long bridge that leads to the North-Eastern island, just shoot through it so you can get to the other side and kill the last Cruiser. Yes, you can cross this bridge with your Cargo Trucks, but the enemy forces will destroy it as soon as you try so you may as well destroy it now.

Once the Cruisers are out of the way, send your ground forces in to clear out that base. Then build a few Transports, load some tanks in them and send them to the North-Eastern island. Clear out the enemy forces, then send your Cargo Trucks in to complete the mission.

Soviet 7 – Core of the Matter

Soviet 7 – Core of the Matter

Soviet 7 – Core of the Matter

Mission: One of our nuclear reactors has been infiltrated by the Allies and is going to blow in 30 minutes. Find the technicians and guide them to the 4 control stations, and the main computer to prevent this from happening. Also, kill any Allies you encounter.

This is my least favorite mission of the Soviet campaign since you are playing inside a building and only receive a very tiny group of soldiers. The best advice I can give you here is to save every few seconds; trust me, you won’t regret it.

First, as soon as the mission starts, move your troops to the right or they will be set alight by the oil barrels that the Allies destroy. Then move your troops South, past the second bunch of barrels. Once you reach the end, shoot the barrels and do to the Allies what they just tried to do to you.

Follow the path West but watch out for the Flame Tower as it will fire on your troops. Carry on West and ignore the troops you see by one of the control stations. You’ll notice a room with numerous Attack Dogs just below you, go there and shoot the oil barrels outside the room to destroy the Pillbox and free your dogs. Then send your dogs to kill the soldiers you just passed.

If you follow the arrows, you’ll reveal a part of the map up North. Avoid this for now as Agent Tanya is stationed there; you’ll take care of her later.

There are some oil barrels to the West, avoid these as enemy infantry will shoot at them as soon as you get close. Move South instead and flank them, then you can shoot the barrels right next to them and take them out, then continue West.

Watch out for more oil barrels which will erupt as soon as you get close. An enemy soldier will run away from you to try and kill your Engineers in the North-West. Send your Attack Dogs to run him down and then to kill the last soldier guarding your Engineers.

Now that you have your Engineers, send one to the computer station where you eliminated those troops earlier. This will destroy the Flame Tower that you saw at the start. Next, send your Engineers to the 4 control stations which have been revealed. When they’ve all been activated, a Flame Tower will appear next to Agent Tanya and take her and her squad out. Then you can send an Engineer to the final computer they were guarding.

Soviet 8 A – Elba Island (North)

Soviet 8 A – Elba Island (North)

Soviet 8 A – Elba Island (North)

Mission: Destroy all civilian and Allied units and structures.

Deploy your base and get your economy up. You’ll receive some additional reinforcements in a moment so don’t panic and start building units. The Ore around your base will dry up quickly but you can send some units to scout West where you’ll find more.

There’s a small Allied base North of your location and a civilian village right next to it which you can wipe out easily with your starting units. This is a rather vast map and there are a number of enemy ships to kill so I’d suggest sending your Submarines out as soon as possible. If you command them well you should be able to take care of the enemy navy using only the starting Submarines you received.

The enemy’s main base is located in the North-West. The base itself will be easily destroyed, but they possess quite a number of troops so you’ll need a formidable ground army before attacking.

Soviet 8 B – Elba Island (South)

Soviet 8 B – Elba Island (South)

Soviet 8 B – Elba Island (South)

Mission: Destroy all civilian and Allied units and structures.

Build a Barracks immediately, as soon as you put it down the enemy units will flee. They might be back before your reinforcements arrive though so build a few infantry units, just in case. I’d suggest sending your Submarines out as soon as possible, there are a number of enemy ships scattered around that you need to eliminate, and the Submarines don’t have any other use at home.

The civilian town you need to eliminate is North of your base with a small Allied base West of there, the forces you received at the start of the mission should be more than sufficient to take care of these.

There is a small island to the South which contains a few crates. There are not critical to your mission but one of these crates contains money so you can use your Paratroopers to drop in there and claim those funds.

The enemy’s main base is at the North-West. They don’t have as many ground forces as in the Soviet 8 A mission but this time they have more base defenses. Take out the base and make sure your Submarines find all stragglers in the water.

Soviet 9 – Liability Elimination

Soviet 9 – Liability Elimination

Soviet 9 – Liability Elimination

Mission: The Allies captured a Cargo Truck carrying parts for our Iron Curtain. Destroy the truck.

After repairing your base, send a unit through the Southern entrance to explore the area below your base. There is a vast Ore field here but there’s also shoreline where the Allies will drop units so keep a few units there to protect your Ore Trucks.

You will be hit by enemy Longbow Helicopters in this mission so be sure to put up some SAM Sites to deal with them.

There’s an enemy base West of your location. They have 2 Longbow Helicopters which will be a nuisance, so I’d recommend taking them out early. You won’t need a lot of units to do so.

While exploring with your Submarines, you’ll come across a long bridge to the West. You can go ahead and destroy this bridge as it leads to an island with nothing on it. Then you can pass and kill the Cruiser on the other side which will be able to fire on your ground troops.

Make sure to save your game before attacking the enemy’s main base to the North. As soon as you do, the Cargo Truck will try to escape and if it gets away, you fail the mission. There’s a smaller base to the North-East, you can take a second group of units along the road North of your base into this base and wait for the Cargo Truck. Once those forces are in place, send your other troops into the main base and destroy the Cargo Truck when it tries to flee.

Soviet 10 – Overseer

Soviet 10 – Overseer

Soviet 10 – Overseer

Mission: Use your aircraft to clear the way for your convoy. At least one Cargo Truck has to make it to the end.

This mission only provides a very limited amount of resources so you’ll need to be careful and save regularly. You’ll receive a few Heavy Tanks to guide your Cargo Trucks through the map. When your tanks move, so will the trucks. Use your Spy Plane to keep revealing the next portion of the map.

There’s a small enemy base to the West, use one of your tanks to shoot the oil barrels and eliminate the soldiers inside it. There’s another larger base further West. You will need to proceed along the Northern path to get there, but first, move to the South-West of the first base you found, there’s a small crate that will heal all your tanks. If your tanks are still at full health, or close, then you can save this crate for later.

When approaching the second base, destroy the top AA Gun with your tanks. When you get closer to the base entrance an Allied Destroyer will fire on you and reveal itself. Use your Migs to take out the Destroyer before entering the base. Next, proceed into the base and destroy the AA Gun to the rear and take out all the enemy soldiers. By this time you should have received a few Engineers as reinforcements, we’ll get to them in a moment. Move through the base and destroy the AA Gun to the South then send your planes to destroy the Turret, or take it out with your tanks, whichever you choose. There’s another Destroyer to the South of the base so you’ll need to call in your planes again.

Use your Engineers to capture the Construction Yard and Repair Depot, the other buildings will be sold as soon as their health gets low enough for you to capture. You can try and use the Repair Depot to fix your tanks but it didn’t work when I tried it, although if I remember correctly from the original games, it should. Build a Barracks and train a few troops to assist your tanks in the final stretch, you’re almost done.

Once you capture the Construction Yard, a timer will start. Don’t panic, you have more than enough time to complete the mission. Further West are 2 bases on the hills with a number of Turrets. Use your aircraft to take out these Turrets before proceeding. Once they’re out of the way, send your ground forces in, clear out the last remaining enemy units, there should only be a few infantry and a single Medium Tank, then get your Cargo Trucks to the end.

Soviet 11 A – Sunk Costs (North)

Soviet 11 A – Sunk Costs (North)

Soviet 11 A – Sunk Costs (North)

Mission: Destroy the Allied base and their naval fleet which will pass through this area to refuel.

Set up your base and get your navy up as soon as possible to start scouting the seas. You will need to leave a couple of Submarines to the South of your base as there will be frequent visits from Cruisers who’ll shoot at your Ore Trucks. Adding a few Airfields with Migs will also be useful in dealing with the enemy ships.

Once you’ve got your forces ready and you’ve explored the oceans to eliminate all those pesky Cruisers, you’ll need to build some Transports to get your ground forces across the water. This mission finally gives you access to the Mammoth Tanks, personally I find that Mammoth Tanks will solve all your problems. There is only a single point where you can drop your ground forces and it’s at the Southern point of the enemy’s island. Drop as many tanks as you can here and send them North to destroy the enemy base. The Allied Mine Layers would have placed a number of mines in this area so don’t be surprised if some of your tanks go boom, just push through and destroy everything.

Be sure to check behind every tree for Camo Pillboxes. If you think you’ve destroyed everything but still haven’t completed the mission, it’s most likely one of these still hiding out.

Soviet 11 B – Sunk Costs (South)

Soviet 11 B – Sunk Costs (South)

Soviet 11 B – Sunk Costs (South)

Mission: Destroy the Allied base and their naval fleet which will pass through this area to refuel.

Build a base and construct a Sub Pen as soon as possible so you can get some Submarines. Use these to scout the seas and destroy all enemy naval forces. You’ll have frequent encounters with Cruisers who will shoot at your base so leave a few Submarines home to take care of those. I’d also suggest building about 5 or 6 Airfields with Migs to shoot down the randomly appearing Cruisers when your Submarines are too far away.

The enemy base is located to the West and cannot be accessed directly by land units so you’ll have to move them across with Transports. There’s only a single drop off point that’s guarded so you’ll have a hot drop. I’d recommend only sending in Mammoth Tanks, they should get the job done. You’ll run over a good number of mines laid by the enemy Mine Layers so expect your tanks to explode for no apparent reason.

Once the enemy naval forces have been removed, send in your tanks and clear out the rest.

Soviet 12 – Capture the Tech Centres

Soviet 12 – Capture the Tech Centres

Soviet 12 – Capture the Tech Centres

Mission: Capture the 4 Allied Tech Centres.

Use the forces you are given to destroy the enemy base and replace it with a base of your own.

The first Tech Centre is located in the South-West corner of the map. There are some troops guarding the route there but nothing to worry about. This Tech Centre is located right next to a large Ore field so I’d suggest building an Ore Refinery right next to it once it’s been captured. This will help your economy along quite nicely. Just add a SAM Site to defend against the relentless helicopter attacks.

There’s an enemy base in the South-East corner which you’ll need to destroy. This base doesn’t have any Tech Centres but it is heavily defended so make sure to send enough forces. The waters are patrolled by a few Cruisers which will be a problem when attacking this base. You probably won’t be able to reach the water with a Sub Pen yet but there’s an easy workaround for this. Simply build a bunch of Silos in a line towards the water until you’re close enough to place a Sub Pen. Then add a few Submarines to your Army and take out the enemy ships.

The final base is located on an Island and they’re using a Radar Jammer to hide it from you so you can’t attack it by air. You’ll need to build a few Transports and send your tanks across. Remember the Engineers. Be careful with your brutish tanks as they have a habit of destroying the Tech Centres by mistake, destroying even a single one of these Centres will cost you the mission. Clear the island of all resistance before capturing any of the Tech Centres because as soon as you capture the first, a 5-minute timer will start and you’ll fail the mission if it runs out. Note that the Chronosphere will explode once you capture the Tech Centres but you’ll still complete the mission.

Soviet 13 A – Capture the Chronosphere (North)

Soviet 13 A – Capture the Chronosphere (North)

Soviet 13 A – Capture the Chronosphere (North)

Mission: Capture the enemy Radar Domes before capturing the Chronosphere.

Get your base up and start building a ground force. You’ll also need to build a Sub Pen to the South of your base to take out the enemy Naval Forces. You don’t need that many Submarines since the waterways are quite narrow, just command them carefully and you’ll be fine with a small force.

The enemy base spans all across the Eastern side of the map and they have numerous Radar Jammers so you’ll struggle to reveal them with Spy Planes. You’ll need a significant force to take them down, just remember to capture the Radar Domes. I’d suggest saving your game before attacking the base, just to be on the safe side.

The leftmost part of the base is only accessible from a large bridge in the North-West. If this bridge is destroyed you’ll need to use a Transport to get there. One of the Radar Domes is located in this section.

The second Radar Dome is located in the middle of the enemy’s base, and the last one is right at the bottom of the map, a section that is only accessible with a Transport.

Once all Radar Domes have been captured, capture the Chronosphere.

Soviet 13 B – Capture the Chronosphere (South)

Soviet 13 B – Capture the Chronosphere (South)

Soviet 13 B – Capture the Chronosphere (South)

Mission: Capture the enemy Radar Domes before capturing the Chronosphere.

Get your base up and running then build a few Silos West towards the water so you can place a Sub Pen. Build a few Submarines and clear the waters. You’ll need to do the same to the East as these 2 bodies of water don’t meet.

The Submarines to the West will reach a long bridge that leads to one of the Allied bases. Don’t try and cross this bridge with your ground forces because it’s very well protected and will be destroyed before you can reach the base. Rather shoot a hole in the bridge with your Submarines and move through so you can kill the enemy ships on the other side. You will then need to build a Transport or 2 to access the base on the other side of this bridge. One of the Radar Domes you need to capture is located here.

There is another part of the enemy base located to the South that needs to be accessed by a Transport from the East. Here you’ll capture the second Radar Dome. The remaining 2 Radar Domains are in the main base between the two bases you already cleared. There are a lot of defenses so be ready to rumble.

The Chronosphere is located in the South-Western corner of the map. Remember not to approach it before capturing the Radar Domes or it will explode and cost you the mission. Once the Radar Domes have been captured, send an Engineer into the Chronosphere.

Soviet 14 – Soviet Supremacy

Soviet 14 – Soviet Supremacy

Soviet 14 – Soviet Supremacy

Mission: Destroy all Allied units and structures.

This is the final standoff between you and those Allied dogs, make sure they remember your name.

The map is rather large so get an Airfield and Sub Pen up as soon as possible so you can send those Spy Planes and Submarines out to scout. There are a lot of enemy ships in this game, including numerous Cruisers, so you will need a large navy. Also, build at least 5 Airfields with Migs as there will be Cruisers in areas that your Submarines won’t be able to reach.

There’s a bridge right above your base which leads to a small Allied base. As soon as you have a few defenses up you can send your ground forces into this base but be careful not to destroy the bridge or you’ll need to build Transports. Any other bridges your Submarines come across can be destroyed so you can access the other side and kill the Cruisers who will be firing at your ground troops.

When you’re ready to destroy the rest of the Allied base, move your forces West to the edge of the map, then North. You’ll encounter a second smaller base here.

Once through the second base, proceed North to the top of the map, then East to the enemy’s main base. Destroy everything and claim your place in history.
