Thoughts about Bulb Boy

Bulb Boy is a point and click adventure. But not a common adventure. You play as a Bulb boy in an survival horror game where everything is gloomy and creepy. So if bogeyman is someone who you love and would like to see him hanging around, then try this game.

Bulb Boy
How does the dev introduce the game?

One gloomy night, Bulb Boy awakens suddenly from a frightening nightmare to discover that evil has overshadowed the Bulbhouse. His family has disappeared and there are horrid monsters lurking in the shadows.

And then you must try and move from one screen to another and not to die in the hands of monsters. Just see the video above and you’ll soon understand :-). In general, Bulb Boy is a 2D point and click horror adventure about a boy with a glowing lemon-head and you have to solve puzzles and defeat monsters. The game was inspired by legendary Goblins and Machinarium and you can buy it for $9.99 on Steam.

While this game brings to the table what you would expect from it, it also has some things I didn’t see coming. I suppose from the cover art I should have suspected it was going to be a bit creepy. It is a horror game after all. But when you mix cute and creepy together you get something a tad bit on the very eerie side.

If you like 2D point and click adventures you’ll probably enjoy this game. The puzzles are, a bit strange, but it goes along well with the overlying theme going on. Puzzles within this game are easy but not too easy, difficult but not too difficult.

For me the creepy elements made me a bit uncomfortable, there was just something about it, probably the bugs to be honest. Since this isn’t my area, I don’t believe I should set a full review for this game. Its just not my cup of tea, so to say. But hey, if you like these style of games I bet you’l really enjoy Bulb Boy! I just didn’t and it’s very hard for me to write a good review or article in general because the game made me feel strange. But on the other had it could be taken as a proof that the game does the job well, right? 🙂
