Spanning 35 years since the days of the NES, Samus Aran has been a recognizable staple of Nintendo’s history. The Metroid franchise in general has been one of the more robust IPs with 14 published titles, and a 15th on the way. Outside of making gaming history by featuring the first playable female human character, it’s one of the progenitors of the “metroidvania” genre. With so much recognition and history, it’s fair to assume general players have played at least one of its many titles. Let’s put that knowledge to the test today with a quiz that covers the Metroid franchise overall.
For recent Metroid information, the latest title coming to Nintendo Switch is Metroid Dread, announced at Nintendo’s E3 2021 Direct presentation. With an October 8th release date, it marks the first title from the series in roughly four years. It also marks the first 2D Metroid title to serve as a direct continuation of the story since Metroid Fusion in 2002. With plenty of news already detailing returning and new additions to the adventure, it hopes to cater to the same atmospheric-loving fanbase as prior games. Hopefully it will live up to the precedent set by its own previous adventures.
