Pokémon Go Adventure Week 2023

This guide will help Trainers get the most out of Adventure Week 2023 in Pokémon Go. This event will feature plenty of fossil Pokémon to catch with special emphasis on obtaining Tyrunt and Amaura since their shiny forms will debut.

Adventure Week 2023

Adventure week is coming back to Pokémon Go on July 27th at 10:00 a.m. local time and will last until August 2nd 8 p.m. local time. Just like last year, this event will feature Rock Type Pokémon with special emphasis on Fossils. Like with many events, new shiny Pokémon will be obtainable. But Trainers will have to be lucky to encounter one or several. There will also be a new Mega Pokémon added. Let’s explore what Adventure Week has to offer in greater detail.

Mega Tyranitar

Mega Tyranitar is finally going to be in Pokémon Go. As a Dark Rock Pseudo-legendary Pokémon with quite a bit of popularity, it is surprising how long it took for this Mega Form to appear. Regular Tyranitar is one of the best Dark and Rock attackers in Pokémon Go. A Mega form will only boost its power that much more. It would be wise for Trainers to challenge these raids for Mega Energy if Mega Tyranitar is of interest. Tyranitar can be shiny too. And of course this includes the ones captured in Mega Raids.

Wild Encounters

As with all events, the spawns will change to reflect the theme. This time that theme is fossil Pokémon. During Adventure Week 2023, the following Pokémon will spawn in the wild a lot more frequently than normal. As many of these Pokémon are extremely rare normally, this is a great chance for Trainers to stock up on their candy. As for shiny hunting, this is a chance to get those as well.

  • Omanyte*, Kabuto*, Aerodactyl*, Lileep*, Anorith*
  • Cranidos*, Shieldon*, Tirtouga*, Archen*
  • Tyrunt*, Amaura*

Pokémon marked with “*” can be found shiny in the wild. Tyrunt and Amura have not had their shiny forms available before in Pokémon Go making them even more to shiny hunters than the others.

Eggs

Just like last year, Adventure Week 2023 will feature special 7km eggs. The following Pokémon can be hatched from these eggs.

  • Tirtouga*
  • Archen*
  • Tyrunt*
  • Amaura*

Unlike other eggs, 7km eggs are obtained from opening gifts. This eliminates a lot of the random chance obtaining them. Tyrunt and Amura will have their shiny chance boosted from these eggs. And all four Pokémon in these eggs can hatch shiny.

Field Research Task Encounters

Not only will there be special spawns and egg hatches. Adventure Week 2023 wants Trainers to go on adventures. And that means spinning lots of Pokestops and completing just as many research tasks. The following Pokémon can be encountered from completing these field research tasks.

  • Omastar
  • Kabutops
  • Cradily
  • Armaldo
  • Tyrunt*
  • Amaura*

Like from the eggs and in the wild, Tyrunt and Amaura can be obtained in their shiny forms this way. But remember, Trainers will need luck to be on their side to find these shiny variants. With so many different ways to obtain them, Trainers should adventure confident that so long as they catch Pokémon, complete tasks, and hatch eggs, it is highly likely that these elusive fossils will appear in their shiny forms.

Keep a lookout for Shiny Amaura

For $2.00 US or equivalent currency pricing, Trainers will gain access to a special limited time research exclusive to Adventure Week 2023. Completing these tasks will reward two incubators, a super incubator, and encounters with Pokémon that follow the theme of the event. This probably means more chances at Tyrunt and Amaura. But other Fossil Pokémon might make an appearance too.

Trainers will need to complete this Timed Research during the event. Once Adventure Week 2023 ends, the task and all its rewards will disappear. It would be a waste to buy the research and not complete it.

Free Timed Research

In addition to the paid timed research mentioned above, Trainers who log into Pokémon Go during Adventure Week 2023 will gain access to a free timed research. Like the paid research, this can only be completed during the event. The research will disappear once the event ends.

Unlike the paid research, this one has a split progression. Trainers will get to choose whether to focus more on exploration or research based tasks. It would be wise to consider which choice works better. And every Trainer will not make the same choice.

Event Bonuses

Adventure Week 2023 wouldn’t be a proper event without bonuses. Remember that these bonuses stack with all the other bonuses from other ongoing events such as Season of Hidden Gems.

  • 2x Experience for spinning Pokestops. Since Trainers should try and get as many research tasks as possible to increase chances of encountering Tyrunt and Amaura, this bonus makes seeking out Pokestops that much better.
  • 5x Experience for spinning a Pokestop for the first time. It wouldn’t be a real adventure without Trainers exploring new places now would it. Pokestops that have not been spun before will have a have a ring around them to make them easy to spot. When combined with a lucky egg for double experience, finding new Pokestops to spin during the event should be worthwhile for Trainers.
  • 1/2 Hatch Distance when eggs are put into incubators during the event. Trainers will be walking around quite a bit for adventure week. With this bonus, hatching eggs will be much easier.

Collection Challenge

During Adventure Week 2023, there will be a collection challenge involving the Pokémon obtainable from research tasks and found in the wild. Trainers who complete the collection challenge will be rewarded with encounters with Tyrunt and Amaura with stardust thrown in as a bonus.

Raids

Special Raids will be happening during Adventure Week 2023. Here is what Trainers can look forward to battling.

  • Mega Tyranitar* in Mega Raids
  • Regidrago in 5 Star Raids

Remember that while in the wild Tyranitar cannot be shiny, the ones battled in the Mega Raids can.

There are tons of events happening in Pokémon Go. And while Trainers adventure it might be difficult to keep track of them all. But that isn’t a problem, because KeenGamer has guides for every one of these events. Trainers need not worry about getting lost in the details.
