Nier: Automata director Yoko Taro announced this morning that his upcoming sequel to 2010's cult classic will release on Steam in early 2017.
Originally announced last year at Square Enix's E3 press conference, the title was assumed to be a PlayStation 4 exclusive. Though both versions now have the same release window, it's unclear as to whether or not both will release on the same date as well.
Square Enix is working in collaboration with Platinum Games to develop the action JRPG set in a post apocalyptic world. The follow-up took many by surprise when it debuted last year, as many thought that the original didn't accrue enough income to warrant it.
