The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Thursday that a record 27 films have been submitted for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 89th Academy Awards, including Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Miss Hokusai, and Studio Ghibli's The Red Turtle; in addition to the critically acclaimed your name. announced last week.

Last year only 16 films were submitted for nomination, including Ghibli's When Marnie Was There and The Boy and The Beast, but only the former was nominated. Inside Out, however, eventually won the award.
