Divinity Original Sin 2 Hands On Demo Overview

At Pax East 2017 I was able to play Divinity Original Sin 2 for the first time ever. By first time I mean I've never played the first game but was interested enough to give it a try! It turned out to be one of the coolest experiences I've ever had in an RPG.

Divinity Original Sin 2 is developed and published by Larian Studios. It can be played with up to 4 player co-op and is a very immersive Role Playing Game. Not only does it have very in depth character customization, but it allows you to make a character that fits a certain personality. You can be a cocky trash talker, a dishonorable Warrior, and so much more. It really allows you to be who you want to be.

I played the game for the first time ever at Pax East 2017. At first I was a little lost but was guided by a very friendly developer that explained how the game works. Shortly after, I found myself pretty addicted to the games world.

While the game plays turn based, it's still very much in a way that's fast paced. It forces you to make very logical decisions in your head pretty quickly. You want to keep the fight going, and you want to try to think of the best way possible to win. In this game there are so many different mechanics that can help you win. However there's also a lot of ways you can mess up and die. This is what makes this game very interesting to me. It's challenging in a very fun way. One thing that stands out the most is that the turn based combat allows you to manipulate the environment. Meaning you can turn water, fire, poison and oil into deadly traps or harmless ground to move on.

In Divinity Original Sin 2, you can pretty much kill anyone. I found this out the hard way while running around and trash talking someone that was a bit stronger than me. It's a brutal world, but I loved that feature very much. The game really awards you for exploration. You can interact with pretty much everything and everyone and even trade with friendly NPC's in the game. You can also even steal or pickpocket anyone. The story of the game also follows your race and play style. How you choose your dialogue options will alter your outcome. This makes the Divinity Original Sin 2's replay value very very high.

From what I got to play, I was definitely having a ton of fun for my first time playing. It was an experience I'll never forget and I'm very thankful to Larian Studios for the hands on demo! Divinity Original Sin 2 is now available in Early Access on Steam here.
