A Broforce Sequel Is Overdue

Despite Broforce's success, longevity and good health in the world of gaming, a Broforce sequel should have happened already. However, we haven't heard any news about it since the last Broforce update. Is this a bad sign? What are Free Lives's developers up to?

A Broforce Sequel is Overdue

In 2014, a game studio based in Cape Town, South Africa, created the most American game ever. With an incredibly large roster of action heroes from action movies we all know and love, as well as Cherry Broling, Broforce finally filled that crazy crossover game we all imagined as kids. And it was brilliant. It left many fans starving for a Broforce sequel.

With destructible environments, a decent number of enemies and bosses and many, many diverse stages, Broforce dragged you to hell and made you love every bit about it. Cooperative was even better, because up to four players were able to fill this gap. 4 players raining destruction over their enemies and often themselves. This game was so good that even today people are still playing it. So, many are those fans wondering, will there be a sequel?

Broforce had a very, very replayable campaign with several levels of difficulty and even an ironman (Ironbro) mode along with a versus mode. And that was just the base game. Mixing the good bits of Contra, Metal Slug and other classics with a bunch of cool action characters turned out to be an explosive idea. The game was so fun that it managed to leave fans thirsting for more.

Broforce’s Last Cartridges

Broforce had several major final updates that added more content before it went silent. This includes the 4th July update and the Lightning Strikes Twice update, which added not one but TWO lightning-spewing Christopher Lamberts which increased the already humongous available bros. It was shortly after that Bro Lee (Bruce Lee) and Tank Bro (Tank Girl) appeared as the last heroes to come for this game. But the best part about these updates were the silent heroes doing the bug-fixing for an already fairly polished game and their level editor. This allowed some gamers to create some of the best maps I’ve ever seen. Maps like Elevators or Unrest will add extra unique challenges that will fit in Broforce‘s wacky universe. These are two out of hundreds of maps made by fans and gamers who wanted more content.

With a large rooster of popular action heroes, Broforce hits a sweet spot between nostalgia and innovation.

Not for Now, Bros… But There’s More Fun to Be Had

Sadly, the studio in charge of Broforce has not announced anything regarding Broforce yet. However, there’s a bright side about this. The studio has also produced other gems like the VR title GORN and the infamously fun Genital Jousting. They clearly haven’t lost their mojo and should they reveal anything regarding Broforce or even a spiritual sequel you can rest assured: it’s bound to be great!

What We Could Be Seeing in a Broforce Sequel

Perhaps in a Broforce 2 mod we could be seeing more reskinned or different types of enemies, and more small gimmicks that add quantity to the quality we got with the first game. But maybe what would greatly benefit the game is the ability to reskin or create your own modded bros. I’m sure a great many people would have loved to play as “Brondie” from “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly”, or Bro Vader from a Galaxy far away. The Brovengers a reskin of all the bros with the 46 presidents of the U.S. are some of the craziest ideas… that nevertheless could have worked. Those are only a few suggestions from the lots and lots of fan requests, some of which made it into the game already! What would you like to see in a Broforce sequel? Post your brilliant ideas below!

Getting to the choppa to complete the stages definitely adds a sense of accomplishment. Especially with the explosions behind!
