Pearl

Releases September 16, 2022 in US theaters.

Similar to last month, A24 brings another gory slasher full of excitement to the table: Pearl. Fans of the movie X have much to look forward to here, as Pearl gives us the origin as to how and why Pearl herself became the eerie, villainous killer that she is.

Pearl takes place during WWI and explores Pearl’s life as she is left feeling trapped and isolated at her family’s farm. She has the responsibility of tending to her sickly father, while her mother is constantly lurking over her shoulder and micromanaging her. As Pearl dreams and lusts over a life of glamour, heavy emotions morph her into the villain she feared she would inevitably become. The cabin where the “massacre of X” took place– in the movie X— is explored throughout this film, as well.
