Halloween may have passed, by the scares keep on coming this year. Some of the biggest horror games have yet to come out, with a number being released throughout November 2022. This month has a strong variety, with a little of everything, from story driven survival-horror, to dark fantasy and even some action-horrors. If none of the larger releases catch your eye, make sure to check out the indie offerings at the end for something a bit different.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me
The Dark Pictures Anthology series continues its yearly releases with The Devil in Me. This time you play as a group of film makers creating a documentary in the HH Holmes ‘Murder Hotel’. As you may expect, the filming will not go to plan, with the characters being watched and manipulated. This game is the 4th in the series, following on from Man of Medan, Little Hope and House of Ashes, and is described as the finale of season 1 of the series.
For the uninitiated, The Dark Pictures Anthology are horror games with interactive stories. Your decisions effect the way the story plays out. Your actions can save, or lose, the lives of your characters. It could come down to a straight choice, or as the repercussions of past decisions, such as who gets to keep a certain item. Autosaves mean you can’t go back if you regret a decision and deaths are permanent. This means there’s a bunch of different endings to explore, offering a lot of replayability.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me releases on November 18th on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
Perhaps you like monsters and scares, but also want the option to blow that monster away with a huge gun. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide ticks those boxes. This game brings the brutal combat of the Vermintide series to the twisted future of Warhammer 40K. The game comes with co-op so grab a friend and blast away at the horrors of chaos that have infected the planet. You have an array of weapons, both ranged and melee to achieve this goal.
Your role in the story is to serve the Inquisition in it’s mission to purge the hive-city planet of Tertium from the heretical forces of Chaos. The game boasts mutators that force you to adapt and adjust to your enemies, keeping the challenge high as you must switch loadouts and tactics.
40K fans have long been waiting games for the franchise, and it seems like they are finally getting it, with Darktide being on of the biggest horror games releasing this November 2022.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide releases on November 30th on Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.
Evil West
If you’d rather get your scares from the past, rather than the future, then Evil West will be right up your alley. Evil West is dark fantasy third person shooter, revolving around the Old West being overrun by vampiric forces. You must play as a vampire-hunting cowboy working for the Rentier Institute. For years the institute has protected the world from monsters. Both the vampires themselves, and their armies of demons and creatures.
With a strong selection of equipment and advanced technology you must massacre the hordes and save the old west from this supernatural threat. The use of old myths and legends in this dark action horror looks fantastic. It may lean less on the scares but looks like a great time for anyone who likes westerns with a dark edge to them, much like Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare.
Evil West releases on November 22nd on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S and PC.
The Chant
Upcoming horror game The Chant has been receiving positive buzz and joins the list of the biggest horror games coming out this November. The third person horror/action-adventure game looks to have an intriguing plot, especially for those who love a cults. You play as Jess Briars, who attends a spiritual retreat on the isolated Glory Island. However, when a group chant unleashes psychedelic horrors onto the island you must do whatever is necessary to survive and uncover the secrets of the island and it’s cult.
To help survive you have spiritual weapons and abilities to fight off the island’s terrors. However, you must protect both you body and mind from monsters, madness and fears. The game takes its inspiration from 70s psychedelic horrors, with great use of lighting and an electronic rock soundtrack. The Chant looks like a great addition to fans of story driven horror games with an element of cosmic horror.
The Chant releases on November 3rd on PC, Xbox Series X and Series S, PlayStation 5.
Do Not Open
Do Not Open is a first-person horror with an escape room format. The game aims to keep repeat playthroughs fresh with a degree of randomisation. Each game will contain a different combination of rooms and puzzles. This all comes with the added tension of being chased, which seems to be triggered when you run out of time.
The trailer looks great, with a nice puzzles combined with classic horror imagery to keep you feeling tense and scared. It has similar vibes to the classic Resident Evil style puzzles and haunted house setting. All in All, Do Not Open look like a strong choice for a horror game to keep you up during the dark months, and is one of the biggest ones releasing this November 2022.
The Chant releases on November 25th on PC and PS5.

Zero Sievert: Zero Sievert is a top-down shooter set in a procedurally generated wasteland. With bandits and wildlife mutated by radiation, this game will keep you on edge as you do what you can to survive, loot and explore. The planned release date is 15th November for PC.

The Past Within: Co-op horror The Past Within, set in the Rusty Lake universe, looks ideal for a the pastthose looking for a puzzle game to play with a friend. The premise is interesting. One player is set in the past, the other in the future, working together to solve the puzzles. This unique gameplay style looks like a blast. The planned release date is 2nd November on PC, iOS and Android and Nintendo Switch.

Ghost Song: Sci-fi horror Ghost Song is the last of our indie offerings. The 2D game has you play as a once dormant Deadsuit, now exploring the secrets of the moon Lorian, now beset with cosmic horrors and monsters. The game looks gorgeous, with great art and an intriguing story. Ghost Song releases on the 3rd November on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One.
