Once again, the WWE Universe found itself going through some remodeling when they recently had another Draft. Triple H and others announced the picks for each brand, as the superstars were relocated to new homes (and some stayed in place.) Today, we look at the Draft picks that ranked high on the awesomeness scale.
The Bloodline – Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and Paul Heyman
Practically the steal of the entire draft goes to the blue brand, Smackdown. The tribal chief will continue to dominate, as he sets his sights on holding onto his championships for 1000 days. The reason why this is a huge pick-up for Smackdown is the fact that not only do you get Roman Reigns (which is good enough), but you also get a packaged draft pick that includes both Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman.
Cody Rhodes
Well, you knew if Smackdown got Roman Reigns that Raw was going to be gunning for Cody Rhodes…and that’s exactly what they got. The American Nightmare will make his home on the red brand moving forward. This was an excellent draft pick, as it compliments the first draft pick really well. At the end of the day, when it’s all said and done…you couldn’t have gone wrong with either Roman Reigns or Cody Rhodes as your selections. But, I think the fact that Roman’s draft pick also included Solo and Heyman…that’s what adds more weight to his draft pick.
Edge
The Rated R Superstar finds himself in yet another Draft in the year 2023. And, just like all the other ones that he was involved in before…his value has never changed. Easily the third-best pick in my opinion in the entire Draft. Congratulations to Smackdown for picking up this incredible talent.
Seth “Freakin'” Rollins
It’s always nice to pick up the services of The Visionary Seth Rollins in a Draft, and that’s what Raw just did during the WWE Draft. He has his sights set on the newly created World Heavyweight Championship, so let’s see if he can capture it on the red brand moving forward.
Austin Theory
The rising star of the WWE, Austin Theory, was just picked up by the SmackDown brand. With this pick, the blue brand also obtains the United States Championship as well. With Bobby Lashley being selected by Smackdown also…I can see these two’s rivalry heating up for the rest of the year.
The O.C. – AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, and “Michin” Mia Yim
Don’t get me wrong, having the Phenomenal One on your roster is indeed a plus, and AJ Styles would have ranked on this list for sure. But, just like Roman Reigns coming with some of the members of The Bloodline…it’s hard to say that a single draft pick that includes an entire faction is a hit-and-miss. In this draft pick, Smackdown gets a tag team, a female competitor, and the leader of the group, AJ Styles, all in one single selection. Deserves the sixth spot on this list.
Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
You can’t go wrong with this duo for any Draft year. Both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a single pick will be competing on Raw. And the most interesting situation to come out from this is the fact that they hold the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships. What does this mean for the titles? Are they going to be merged into one championship? Is one of the two tag titles going to be stripped from Owens and Zayn and moved over to Smackdown? We shall see.
Imperium – Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, and Giovanni Vinci
This draft pick means business. A powerhouse of a trio that wants to make a name for themselves in the foreseeable future, and they have a great chance after being drafted to Raw. Gunther, the leader of the pack, is focused and only cares about winning. With Ludwig and Giovanni next to him, this stable will be hard to handle for any opponent on the Raw roster.
Trish Stratus
This should just tell you how much value this individual has left in her career. Retired in 2006, was then inducted into the WWE HOF, and now is being drafted in 2023. After turning heel, you can see that she is headed to Raw after this year’s WWE Draft with a purpose, and with Becky Lynch heading to Raw as well…this feud just got more unpredictable.
The Judgment Day
A terrific pick for Monday Night Raw, as they select to grab members of The Judgment Day, Finn Bálor, Damian Priest, and Dominik Mysterio. This is surely going to put the Raw locker room on notice, as they continue their dominance moving forward with whoever is crazy enough to step into the ring with them.
There you have it, my top ten picks for this year’s WWE Draft.
