The Town of Light Hands On Demo Overview

The Town of Light is a beautifully crafted and inspirational game. I was able to get a hands on demo with one of the developers on the team. After a couple minutes I was blown away by the amount of detail they put into it.

I got to try out  The Town of Light (Developed by LKA) at Pax East 2017 and was blown away by the amount of detail they put into the games story. I was given a hands on demo with one of the developers involved in the games story and was inspired by what I heard. I also got to play with a PS4 controller which made me feel at home.

The Town of Light follows 16 year old Renée who has been locked up and taken away from everything. Misunderstood by the police and declared a danger to herself, she takes the player on a psychological journey which is told in a first person perspective. The story is set in Italy in the 20th Century in a place that actually existed in real life. I was given a brief history of this place and it sounded haunting but moving. The environment of the game felt real and really immersive. It really pulls you into its story driven adventure.

A lot of things such as the lighting, shading, colors, and more help really make you feel like part of the world.

The game-play was pretty basic but in a very good way. The controls are simple and easy to use. The game strands away from highly fast paced action to give you a more personal story. There are a lot of things in the game that you can interact with to get a glimpse of the past and to understand the story even more. It  really makes you feel the cruel and haunting story of Renée.
