Fortnite is getting a respawn system next week. The thing with this new system, though, is that it holds similarities to Apex Legends' own respawn system. Titled the Reboot Van, details on this system have been fully released.

Reboot Van: it's a new respawn system for Fortnite: Battle Royale, and it's coming next week. With this upcoming system, players can bring back squadmates that have died in battle, which is similar to the respawn stations of Apex Legends.

Like in the other game, players will respawn back into the match without their weapons or items. Upon respawn, Reboot Van will temporarily deactivate and only turn back online after a set period of time. Along with Reboot Van, there will be a Reboot Card which is used to activate the former. When a player dies, though, they will drop their card.

In a video discussing the upcoming system, Epic Games community manager Nathan Mooney suggested that a surviving squadmate grab the dropped card when the player dies and use it at the van. He states, "Once activated, you'll definitely know, as a beacon and audio cue will be set off, informing nearby players to the reboot in progress and how many players will be arriving. Your squad will appear, one by one, on top of the van—ready to jump back into the match."

It was back in an Epic Games Reddit AMA in February 2019 that the idea for a respawn system took root. According to an Epic producer, they had been considering incorporating the mechanic into the game but had to research what kind of impact it would have on the overall game. With that said, they had suggested fans and players look out for updates for Season 8.
