The Nintendo Switch has been going strong these last couple of years. Now, Nintendo is planning on releasing two new models of the console, each of them tailored for two groups: serious gamers and casual gamers. One version will be more powerful than the other.

Not even two years after the release of the Switch, Nintendo is already working on two new models of the wildly popular dual console that they plan to release this year, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

The first model will be the most powerful version of the current system available. It will be tailored for hardcore gamers, but it won't be as powerful as the PS4 Pro or the Xbox One X despite the enhanced features that will accompany it.

The second model, aimed at casual gamers, will be a cheaper option that Nintendo believes will succeed the 3DS, which is one foot in the gaming market grave. Some features won't be included in this version in order for Nintendo to cut costs, especially the vibration feature for the controllers.

The Wall Street Journal also stated that the new models will be announced at E3 2019, and will be released a few months after, possibly around the holiday season.

Normally, Nintendo releases only one new version of an existing handheld system every few years. Putting out two new versions of the Switch in one year is an interesting move, especially now that Pokémon is moving up to the console with Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Now the 3DS will finally rest in peace.
